Title borrowed from the old Viz mags!

Thought it might be helpful to swap "handy tips" for livery making.

I'll start with this - if you use a Mac computer, there's a fantastic utility built into the OS called Digital Colour Meter.
If you open it, you will get a crosshair that will go over the pixels onscreen and give you the exact RGB values of that pixel.

I have used it to match many colours, for example the Petronas green / grey of the F1 cars.

Any more tips welcomed!

Colorzilla is a useful color palette picker, it works inbrowser so you can pick the exact colors from pictures. Yes it gives you the HSV code
The only issue being the fact that the "H" is always too big and has to be divided. I found this tip months ago here on gtp but i forgot the value you have to insert to divide H, i forgot also who posted this and where to find his post...

The ‘08 Gr.2 NSX (my favorite car) has an incorrectly modeled NACA duct on the hood that goes .. nowhere

You can apply a black/mesh decal of your choice

And using a negative Projection Angle, trim away the excess for the final result.

Here is a pic of the real car for reference.

Two very useful tips, thank you. I looked at Colorzilla and looks like it works only in Chrome / Firefox (but I bet they're the most used browsers now)

@ARTAsean .... not with you when you say "using a negative Projection Angle, trim away the excess for the final result."..... what happens there??
