I remember once discussing GT5 with a buddy while playing the newly released GT4. We figured since it would likely be on next gen hardware, that they would have to go to a whole new level and it would take a while because of all the added detail - assuming they would retain as much content as GT4.

But I don't think anyone could have forseen then that this game would take til at least end of '09, more likely early 2010. If someone suggested that back then I would have laughed.

I mean, like I posted on another thread, I had to wait OVER A YEAR for GT4, and I'm afraid I will have to do the same again.

This is EU release dates:

Gran Turismo 1: 1998
Gran Turismo 2: 2000 (2 years wait)
Gran Turismo 3: 2001 (1 year wait)
Gran Turismo 4: 2005 (4 years wait)
Gran Turismo 5: 2010 (5 years wait)

Soon you will have to wait a generation for next Gran Turismo

My local game shops won't let me pre-order GT5 until there is an official date.

I pre orders very few games and when I do I wait until a couple months of release. Frankly I never even needed to preorder yet but with GT4 I got two GT4 hats for preordering, GT5P I got sticker sets, GTA IV I got numberplates. Pretty pointless but something to collect dust.

The only thing i got from pre-order is an unlock-code for the retro-pack for Skate 2. I want pointless stuff!!

Kaz have said in many interviews that it will come sooner than expected. He also have joked about the late release dates. I'm confident that we will se Gran Turismo 5 Spring 2010.

Haha. I had my Gt4 pre-order for a full 2 years! No pre-order for GT5 though. GameStop doesnt let you pre-order until there is a release date.

When I got GT4, i thought to myself "Can they do better than this? Can they put in anymore cars or tracks or make them look better? Can they do anymore?" Honestly, i never thought GT5 was going to be. I thought GT4 would be the last and that beter was impossible.

Well they are a hard working bunch at PD,but i`m sure if they didn`t F*%K around with GT5P and updates and the GTR dash,tourist trophy,GTHD,the BMW or Audi Versions etc then GT5 would`ve been out for Xmas 2008 which is a 3yr wait from GT4 thats long enough. Focus on one thing at a time PD,too many fingers in too many pies means they all never get eaten or will take forever.

BMW, Audi GTHD and even GT5P are all following the same goal, they are just cutouts of the big picture, not a lot of side tracking there.

Tourist trophy was done early (even during late GT4 development with a seperate team) before PD even had PS3 dev kits,so they probably would have been working on internal code at the time and rough estimates of pologon counts. I doubt it would have slowed down GT5 much at all.


I sometimes think the same, hoping PD isn't getting sidetracked by GTTV, GT by Citreon concept etc, but who knows.

I'll wait and probably preorder at Best Buy or something. GT5 is not one of the games I want a Gamestop price sticker on, so I'm definitely not getting it from them.

Hah I know what you mean about the stickers, don't know about gamestop but other retailers usually don't bother putting a price sticker on preordered games when you pick them up.
