Happy Fourth of July!

I hate the 4 of July, its a meaningless holiday. All it allows is for a mass of fireworks. And being in California, I don't like the idea of explosives going off everywhere. Especially with all the fires right now.

Plus, everyone knows that the 4th of July is just a day. We didn't gain independence completely. That happened later on. The date which escapes my mind for the moment.

Anyways, go have fun shooting explosives into the air everyone, I'll have fun sitting inside.
Sorry for being bitter. I don't like fire.

Huh? 4th of july? Isn't the big day the 1st of July? I think you're a little la--

Ooooh....American independence day. My bad.

Yeah...I plan on getting all greened up, and watchign the Saskatchewan Roughriders beat the BC lions in CFL week 2 action today.

What the hell are you talking about? It was the day we decided to be independent from the crown. The brave men who started this country affirmed their independence regardless of whether they would survive or see the fruit of their decision.

Happy 4th of July everyone!

I don't think we have any major plans. My mom has to work tomorrow and all weekend so we aren't doing anything too exciting.

Well, thats just plain ridiculous. Also wtf do fireworks have to do with independence?

It certainly isn't ridiculous. And fireworks are part of the celebration, just as they are involved in new year's, sports events, and concerts.

Fireworks are a celebratory expression. Of course, every friggin firework is banned in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Even sparklers.

So, no blowing stuff up for me.

I'm planning on making my own BBQ sauce and grilling some chicken and potatoes.

So what are we celebrating? The day we got almost all of our independence? I'm sorry, thats stupid. Fireworks = Entertainment somehow. I don't find them appealing, I find them to be dangerous and stupid.

Bottom line, I hate fireworks and I wish they didn't exist.

Now at the risk of getting reported for doing something wrong, I am now going to ignore this thread and everything in it.

You obviously aren't celebrating anything, and nobody's forcing you to. Those of us who choose to celebrate the 4th of July are, again, celebrating the spirit of 1776.

Same here. Just replace "mom" with "wife".

so we would be tax free and what was the first thing we did you guessed it Imposed a tax!

The 4th is lame, every idiot that wants to blow insane amount of money has a fireworks show and every redneck fires off shotguns. Also nothing is open so it's a meaningless day off of work for me since I can't really do anything. I think I'm going to work on my new truck all day to be quite honest and then be pissed tonight when I'm trying to sleep and have the sky explode.

I've never liked the 4th, fireworks just don't appeal to me. I understand it's importance and what it means I just can think of other things I would rather celebrate.

I'm probably gonna be cleaning all day, tonight I'll probably swim and go somewhere (I'm thinking a church someplace) to watch fireworks, alll in all, pretty boring.

From,
Chris.

Although we're not doing it this year, sometimes my parents and I would go to Pittsfield to see my mom's side of the family, and we would have essentially a big picnic, with red white and blue cake, fruit salad, and other picnicy foods. Then when it got late we would head down across the road and watch a fireworks show, and then go to bed. It was definitely fun, even if this holiday isn't exactly the most liked.

I can't understand why anyone would come into a thread about a holiday and then while about fireworks or question the holiday itself.....

even though I'm working all day today it will barely be work and later tonight I'll be up on the roof of my work watching the fireworks from the Mall with my girlfriend. All while getting double pay :D

I think bergauk secretly lives in England. 💡

Cheese and rice, a lot of bitching about probably the greatest holiday celebrating some of the greatest and bravest people in history…

There's not nearly as many Americans posting in this thread as I thought there'd be. Sounds like all the socialists from China and union workers are all having a party together.

Anyway, I love Independence Day. I think it's the most important date in American history, and one of the most important in the world. I'm not a fan of parties and whatnot, but I use the day the consider the people who created this country and why they did it. Of course, it'd be even better without all the rain...

A little more blunt then what I want to be, but I agree...

The weather is definitely hampering my Fourth of July spirit. It's hot-as-hell, humid and smoggy. Don't feel like standing outside to BBQ, so we had pan-grilled hot dogs for lunch, and beef patties with chili and whipped potatoes for dinner. The kids are swimming, and want to go to the fireworks show at the high school, but I'm going to skip it this year.

Without a doubt, this is the best holiday out of the year, and it's only for patriotic Americans! 👍

Happy 4th everyone.

I just got back from a show my band just played, and later on I'm blowing up bottles and cans with firecrackers, and launching bottle rockets at cats.
