Wow,
That video of the RevBurner that lubetek posted just looks so cool.
It looks like it makes it so much easier on the eyes for reading the Tac meter.
I thought it was just going to be for show, just somthing else to make the sim rig look cooler.
It seems from the video that it would make sim driving not just more real but functionally better than reading the games on screen gauges.

For those of you that have used the RevBurner is this true ? Is it not just cool and fun but also functionally better than using the games on screen controls ?

Also, do you need two RevBurner's one for the Tac and one for speed or will just one control both gauges?

It can be better than the on-screen gauges if you place it in a spot thats easy to see while driving. Since I created that video I actually made a dash board. Its much easier to read while driving now. (I'm not satisfied with the fit and finish of the dash though and plan to make another one in the future.)

You need two rev-burners if you want to run a speedometer and tachometer.

Thanks chaps ;)

Just ordered a Cooler Master V8 cpu cooler and 2gb's of OCZ Special Ops ddr2 ram.
Why?
I've been thinking it over and I'm going to build a new gaming rig.
Wether that one or my am2 setup will be used for the 'Sim Rig' I'm not sure yet,
But it's definately going ahead.
Pricing up an Asus P5Q delux and a few Crossfire cards. Along with a Q6600.
I'm guessing eventually this new rig will be my Sim Rig as it'll allow a three screen setup.
Then I'll use my Driving Force GT in a more discreet setup for GT5 etc on the ps3.
All my other ps3 based racing sims/games ie... Shift, Dirt, Ferrari Challenge. I'm going to re-purchase for the pc.

Paul ;)

sweet.

You can use a rev burner for a speedo aswell?
Would it need different software?

Harbinja & lubetek,
Do you now or plan to in the future have both a tac and speed gauge hooked up to RevBurners or are you just using a tac gauge?

Looks like you(Harbinja) and me were typing at the same time..I think you just answered my question...LOL

As far as guages etc go, My plan is as follows...

Tach
Speedo
Shift indicator
Possibly a boost guage.
And 2x trick temp guage's rigged to display Cpu temp and room temps ;)

& All necessary software/hardware.

So in other words YES I do plan to do so ;)

Small update coming later this avo...

One question...

Obviously to work with Rev Burner, The speedometer needs to be wired, Not mechanical...
All I can find on ebay are the mech types.
Can someone shed more light on this for me???

Yes you can use the same software. It was recently added (support for speedos)

Yes it must be an electronic speedo. There are many out there but I haven't looked on ebay. I found them on amazon but the cost is high. So I'm keeping my eyes out for a used speedo. When I find one I'll order a second rev-burner.

I already own the GI-Max (LED Gear Indicator) and it works awesome.

Hi there Harbinja, regarding your choice of CPu for your new Gaming rig.
I just wanted to let you that the Q6600 is a fantastic pick. I have been running one in my sytem for a fair while. They get great reviews, run fairly cool and are very overclockable (thought I'd add that as you have a decent HSF).
Peace,;)👍

Cool thanks. I went out and bought a nice knob. Looks and feels better for sure!

Hey I don't know if you saw this yet but I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on this:
SPI-D-front.jpg

The SPI-D (digital speedo and shift light from Symprojects.) The price is not too bad. The latest software update supports it.

Been a while guys!!!

Had shed loads going on irl....
Anyway, Got a car now thats being rebuilt and struggling financially at the moment, So this projects kindA slowed right down lol.

Well Im on a pretty tight budget now so its going to be a one screen, PC that I have now and ps3 setup. ( new pc build is undoable now due to car. )

On the upside I now have a chair as I put a new interior in my mondy, So I have a chair from a mk2 Mondeo Zetec S. Not a bucket, But it'll do the trick once we get our own place.

Recently added larger paddles and a Type R black alcantara gear gator with red stitching.

Going to put my OMP gear knob back on as the type r ones are crap in comparison!

Will try to get pics up of the chair when i get a moments peace lol!
