Has GT Mobile hurt GT5?

It seems like PD has been putting a lot of work into GT Mobile over the past few years trying to get it ready for the PSP Go's launch. Is it possible that PD hasn't been able to work on GT5 as much as they should have due to the development of GTM? I mean, GTM is an absolutely massive game and I'm betting it took as much work as GT4 to develop. Making 2 games at once is no mean feat.

I thought about this yesterday. Yes it has!

Without GT PSP, they would have had soooo much more time to get GT5 to what we expected it would be. IMO PD messed up this time, big time... :indiff:

Come on it's a PSP game using many assets of a developed engine. Development would not have taken long at all and the rewards are just too great for Sony. It's a system seller for the PSP Go and I'm sure many people in the EU will be suckered unto buying a Go because you get GT Mobile free if you get the console early.

Too much financial incentive for a game which would have not taken long to make. Yamauchi said with his current team it would take 2 weeks to make GT1. GT Mobile would not have taken more then a couple months if the whole PD team was involved which is nothing when GT5 has taken years to make.

GT5 should of been completed an released first and then Gt mobile when ever they wanted for my part yhey could of delayed Gt mobile for ever .

I am looking forward to both games. It may have held things up but it won't have affected GT5.

BTW have you seen the PSP game now has a cockpit view!

There are more than twice as many PSPs than PS3s, wait till you see how many copies sell in Japan.

Plus I will be surprised if the number of people who play GT PSP will come close to 10% of those who play GT5.

Actually, I'm not sure about that. The PSP has had a much longer time to grow an install base since it's been out for 3 more years (I think?) than the PS3. If there's more people with PSPs than PS3s, GTM will probably sell more, at least in the short term.

Different development teams.

Next.

Nope, sorry, well sorry to me aswell. PD have stated that yes infact it has slowed progress on gt5 to create gtm.

so lets all make a protest and not buy a psp or gtm as a result of not getting proper dmg modelling on all cars in gt5 :yuck:

They could've used the PSP team for GT5. No matter in what view you look at it, the GT PSP developement was just waste of time and/or man power.

Why? They still have another game at the end of it, GTM!

There will be plenty of people buying both games so this equals more money for PD from the same number of people. If they had used both teams to make GT5 they wouldn't double sales of the game so it makes good business sense

And dude, you need to get a grip and either buy an XBox360 with Forza or quit whining about GT5

Mixed feelings... I'm thrilled to have Mobile, but aggravated by it naturally producing another delay on GT5, whether it was for developing or marketing reasons...

(EDIT: so yes, it did, delaying it...)

I really don't care about GT Mobile.

Heck, they've even put in cockpit views. (see frontpage)
Any idea how long that took?

Mind your own business fella. :)

If I'm disapointed, I have all right to say so, don't you think? Prehaps you think we all should share the same opinion, and those who don't, better be quiet?

Oh no, did they not make the game just for you, awww, imagine them, thinking about all those PSP owners....

Think of GT5 as a hot girl you want to date, like her:

Before you go on your first date with her, you have to go by her house to pick her up. Thing is, she's got this weird, freaky brother (GTMobile) that lives with
her:

It's taking her forever to get ready, and in the meantime your sitting in her living room, talking to her weird brother (GTMobile) and you're thinking to yourself "God this guy is a freak! I wish she would hurry up and get ready."

There are many people looking froward to GT PSP, there may not be a huge number on this forum but thats the way it is. There are more than 50 million PSPs. Do they not deserve the massively delayed PSP GT game?

If anything GT5 delayed GTM, since as I recall GTM was announced way before GT5.

"The man" said GT5 can be released anytime. I believe marketing dictated GTM had to come out before the "real thing" or it would not sell (as much) and GT5 gets further polishing for a few more months...

Not that I agree with that strategy as I will have both :)

I agree with you, but PD should take 1 game at a time. If they want to make GTM, then make GTM. Don't do GT5 and Mobile at the same time. Mobile would have been out faster and development on GT5 wouldn't have suffered. Sure, GT5 would come out later, but it wouldn't be half-assed and we wouldn't be on pins and needles wondering what the hell is going on in development.

That's not really what I meant, GT4 Mobile(as it was called than) was one of the first games announced. It has since than seemed to be vaporware until E3 this year. So it was technically announced all the way back in 2004 while GT5 was announced 3 years ago.

Pretty much sums up how I think about it as well.

But I don't think GT5 is going to be half assed. And I am on pins and needles wondering anything.
