Hauppauge Sound issue

Tried them all and it still isn't doing anything. Still getting no sound or picture and after trying it with my PS2, I'm beginning to think its the HD-PVR itself. I've done everything and it still doesn't work.

Edit: Screw it, I'm just getting rid of this and replacing it with a new device. I've exhausted everything and I've about had it trying to figure this crap out. I have in mind the following two for replacing it:

Hauppauge HD-PVR 2: Much simpler plug-in system AND it has a HDMI out, which makes it perfect for future Gameplay recordings from the PS4

Elegato Game Capture HD: A much smaller device and a even simpler way to connect and get things working

Will do abit more research before I decide, but I'm pretty much set on replacing this.

Out of interest did you get Arcsoft Total Media Extreme application installed as that seems quite crucial in selecting sound input for your device. This YouTube video will help: Link

Update:

Been a while and since my Dad keeps insisting that I try again, I've decided (begrudgingly) to do so. Found a new update but interestingly, its actually a whole new program: Win TV v8

I'm currently setting it up and I'm hoping this works. What do I select for Audio output out of SPDIF, RCA Front and RCA Back?

RCA back, probably most likely one. Depends on how you set it up.

Well, that didn't work. Tried this on another TV and it still didn't work. So yeah, its getting replaced.

Interestingly though, a wild third option has appeared: HD-PVR Rocket

And to make things more interesting, I can trade in the HD-PVR for either it or the HD-PVR 2 gaming edition for 75$. What was already an interesting choice has been made even more interesting.

If possible try on a windows 7 machine

I did and again, the exact same result. I went through all the plugins and settings and nothing worked.

Definitely will be, just having to decide which device should I swap it for. On one hand. the HD PVR2 Gaming Edition has the familiar setup that I've gotten used to so it'll be no trouble at all AND it has the HDMI out, which will be perfect for PS4 Gameplay. On the other, the HD PVR Rocket looks small and simple to set up.

Edit: Made up my mind...going with the HD PVR2 Gaming Edition. Not only can I do my PS3 Game Recording now but I also have HDMI ports to record PS4 gameplay and considering that there won't be interesting games until the likes of GT7 shows up.

That's the card I have as well. You can use the same HDCP bypass as described in that Elgato video, allows for PS3 captures in 1080p.

:D

Ohhh, I hope I'm not too late here. Don't get the DVR. I've had it for a couple of years now, and it has not been an enjoyable experience. Works good on some games, but then, trying to record GTA5 and it would not go up past 480p, if it even worked. The capture software also takes a lot of overhead, and its not well supported by other companies software.
Get the Elgato if this is a laptop, or a PCI card if you are on a desktop. Trust me, you will likely experience all of, and probably a whole new set of issues with the Hauppauge.

Yeah, you kinda are. My HD PVR2 (Not DVR, unless PVR was what you were reffering to) arrived Wednesday and its been working good. Its already a massive improvement over the previous one since its much smaller (less room to take up) and isn't nearly the headache the other one ended up being.

Definitely meant PVR. And by PVR I specifically mean Hauppague. I have the HD-PVR Gamer 2 and it has been the worst. On 4 different computers it only really worked on one. And that one, replaced my console, rendering the thing mostly useless.
But YMMV, and I hope your experiences continue not to mirror mine.

If anyone here has a Hauppauge HD-PVR2, what settings do I change to get the videos in 1080 by 1920 as I was able to with the old Hauppauge?

Well I have two laptops but I've only been recording on the HP so far so not sure if that can be replicated(Used to record on the Acer I'm using now, but stopped when that battery issue happened, which was right before the old HD PVR stopped working). What issues did you have?

Are you using the Hauppauge capture software? If so it should on the left pane of the "Record" dashboard. Otherwise it should be somewhere in the input settings.
As for my issues, on my desktop I could not get the video feed to the computer. I believe it was a hardware conflict between my mobo and the PVR, though it recognized the fact that the PVR was connected. I recently upgraded everything but the case and all seems better there. On both laptops, it would record for about 10 minutes then start locking up until it froze.
It does appear to work well enough though on my new desktop setup. But, there is a reason I upgraded my PC. I'll probably use it for other things with my RPi, or maybe if I get back into gt6 for the CM.

OK, so here?

OK, two things, be sure you have the PlayStation's output set to 1080p. Then you should put the 1080p options output resolution to source. 1080i doesn't work. Also, just because you have set the capture device to 1080pp doesn't mean the PlayStation will be passing its feed at 1080p's resolution. Which is why you want to use source. Some games were designed to play at 720p. I couldn't get GTA V to play above 480p. But definitely leave it to what the source is transmitting and use the PlayStation to control the resolution.

So, got some good news and bad news:

Good news: I got it to show 1080P and its phenomenal.
Bad news: It only works when I switch to "Component/D-Terminal". Why is that an issue? Because now it does not show up at all on my TV like it does when I have the "Component/S-Video" setting selected. Kinda an issue if I wanted to record a whole race while actually racing (Which isn't that big a deal with GT6, but it is with every other game).

Component/D terminal is the one you want. That would be the bigger flat connector that plugs into the ps3, with the 5 RCA style connectors at the other end. 3 are video, and 2 are audio. These then plug into the hauppauges cables. The connection at that end is a D terminal.
Then, from the PVR box to tyebTV you should have an HDMI cable in the HDMI out port to the HDMI in port on the TV. Lag free video is achieved using a built in pass through. As soon as the PVR receives signal from the driver on the computer that all is well, video should automatically pass through to the TV. I'm not sure there is even an option to turn it on and off. It just does it.

Strangely, it showed up when it was previewing it and I was selecting the supported formats, then it didn't and my TV just reads "Format not supported".
