Hey guys,

i'm going to the gym since a long time now, but now i started working on my 6 pack with some other styles.

The thing is, when i do following exercise, i feel pain in the top of my right leg, near the hip.
My exercise is: Lying on the back, hands behind my head, and moving my right elbow to the opposite knee (left one) and then the same in the ohter direction (left elbow to the right knee)

while pushing my right elbow toward my left knee, i'm stretching my right leg, and in that moment i have that pain there.

Any body had that problem as well?

Thank

Chris

Odd one.

Not sure what it could be really. Only thoughts are perhaps you tweaked something one day and it hasn't recovered or perhaps your form isn't too good

You are putting too much tension on your Illio Psoas... It's THE muscle that controls your right leg... obviously there is one for your left too duh.... Its located between your groin and abs.... to the right and left of

oh alright, so you mean, i should have a better control in my right leg...its funny, cause in my left i dont feel anything, just my right.

I will try out some more moves and see if it get better

Thanks!!

It sounds like your doing it right............ i do them myselves and the pain and soreness afterwards is sooo satisfying. But the fact your getting pains in your legs is weird, perhaps your one of those people that do situps and push with their legs instead of actually stomach crutching??

I ripped this off bodybuilding.com (my fav exercises site)....

Short Video:http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/videos/2005/crunchhandsoverhead.wvx

Tips: This variation makes it tougher than regular crunches. Lie on the floor with your knees bent. Keep your feet flat on the floor. Stretch your arms overhead and cross your palms. Curl your upper body forward and bring your shoulder blades just off the floor. Keep your arms aligned with your head, neck and shoulder. Don't move them forward from that position! Slowly lower down after squeezing your abs tight!

I used to get these pains when i was doing decline weighted situps... I found out the best way to get rid of it was to do a hard run (14km/hr) for 5 minutes, and do some leg and stomach stretches.

Although it could also be a flexibility problem, but you say you've been going to gym for a while....... and most gym-holics have great flexibility....... so just try a few things, mix up your routine before you start your abs.

If you can't find a way to get rid of these pains.. just try some other ab exercises shown here....

abs recover quickly, so you should be able to work you abs once a day or once every other day depending on the intensity. just dont overtrain or you could actually get opposite results.

genetics and diet play a big part in getting a 6 pack as well... you have to have a low bodyfat level to have one.
