key to faster lap times is smoothness, then of course using analog makes ur lap times faster cuz it gives more smooth control!!! With the standard piece of sht...its like driving an RC car with no proportional control. Every tap of the button translates into full throttle or full turn so you have to tap it...and that makes driving unsmooth and traction minimizes. Also you cant use brake-trailing with the buttons which makes very fast braking next to impossible cuz it locks the wheels when you turn in and the transition to accelerator is horrible. With analog i can do brake-traiilng very good. well, watever you guys like to play with is fine but try analog and u'd never go bak to push buttons.

Very much agreed. A lot of noobs use the buttons, and then they don't know why they can't control a Viper.

I don't find the analog to be faster. I end up doing all my license tests with the D-pad butons and the A/B setup. It's quite a bit less precise but at the same time more controlled to use the D-pad. It's hard to explain. It's like the analog is fine for everyday racing, and more comfortable, but it's either soft turn, or hit it against the side restrainer. It's hard to feather when you have to think fast and drive faster ;-). If fast times aren't critical I like the sticks, of course.

Also, on the Viper controlling issue. It is a little easier to use the sticks, but more difficult to get used to them, imo. Besides, the Viper ain't that bad. An MR (or Speed 12) on a banked curve will have newbs tearing their hair out

To each their own; I occasionally use digital for some tests, too. I'm finally trying to earn all GT2 golds (currently working on the As...specifically A4..oh my god) and whenever I get frustrated with Analog, I'll try digital just to see if it's any better. That Nissan March circle test (B4) works way better with digital! I can't NOT get a gold on it now, matter of fact. But B5 (the Subaru WRX going in a circle) works better for me with analog. Go figure.

Probably because the March's speed is just enough for a perfect circle to be made using the D-pad turning radius for tappity-tap, but the Impreza, I've noticed, is faster and thus either steers to the inside and then to the outside, or messes up completely if you use the pad, unless you tappity-tap in proper intervals. The analog may be better here to control how much steering you have on all the time. ;)

i use buttons, and i can control evry car in the game fine. well every car ive used :boggled: oh well i guess that this has erupted into a huge arguement over a controller, so why bother?

Argument? Who's arguing! We're just posting our opinions!! Try going to Playstation.com's granturismo forums if you wanna see some 1st class arguments.

They have official forums? Parnelli Bone reckon you could help me with some GT1 tuning on the TRD 3000GT? I am still trying to work on the springyness of the car but to no avail.

Okay, well give me a day or 2 to fire up GT1 again. I forget...isn't the TRD a prize car? Yeah, I found some msg. boards in Playstation.com. I haven't posted anything there, yet.

i must argue!!!!! if you drive for real...the game makes more sense using the analog because they are digitally proportional. If you drive an RC car.....you will also know. I do both and i love analog. The brake to throttle transition without analog is so in consistent and messy.....and every time i tap a button it maxes out. Totally un realistic. Jittery un smoothness leads to loss of traction and i guess u can say taht equals higher lap times.

It's the A GOLD License car. I did what I could though. Lowered the springs etc.

I have a halfway built Tamiya 4WD truck. All I need is the radio & a battery. It's been years since I've been into RC cars but yeah, they're fun.

Next time, I'll reply to Vette's comment in an entirely different forum, that way it'll make no sense, but it'll keep the purity of this thread to a GT2 discussion.
