Australia
Thanks for allowing me to be part of this tremendous group I am most likely your oldest member at the age of 61.

My name is Shane
From Australia 🦘
Having been SIM since F12017 and recently discovered GT7 absolutely enjoy both games. Have recently discovered the SIM dashboard and wow this is seriously cool. I am PS5

Not even the oldest Aussie. I'm 64 :D

I'm always glad to see another old Aussie motorsport/sim racing head in these forums. Welcome aboard. :gtpflag:
This possum is still a citizen of Australia. Emigrated to the US in '98 when I was 55. So I'm probably the oldest American AND the oldest Australian on this forum in one package. 😀

Have loved motorsports since Warwick Farm days in 1961 IIRC. Who else can remember Murray Carter's Corvette Special thundering around Bathurst!? Or Spencer Martin driving the Scuderia Veloce 250 LM? Or the battles between the 1200 VWs and the Morris 850s? Or the Ford Cortina 500 with gearing optimized for Mt Panorama making it almost unusable on normal roads! Ahh, what days they were!!

Wow Warwick farm my father took me to Warwick farm as a young boy and that is where my love of motorsport began the fact that my father used to regularly attend Warwick farm to watch and enjoy his passion for motorsport grew and it was certainly passed on to me

My early memories were of Formula 5000, Trans Am, and the early open wheeler days with the ridiculously tall wings, but I was watching at Mallala... and Rowley Park on Friday nights (my dad raced there). I do remember the Cortina's though, and the early Mustang versus Mini battles were great too!

@shane_44 Just a tip, you can reply directly to people by hitting the reply button (picture below). It will then quote the message you're replying to. That way they get a notification that you've replied. Another way to notify people you've replied is to put an @ symbol in front of their username like I've done with yours here.

Thanks still learning

For example, the video below. Mustang, Morris Cooper S then Porsche 911.

Down Hume Straight at "The Farm", powerful cars like the Mustangs would pull away from the Minis, leaving an amazing gap which would quickly shrink through the Esses, with those Minis snapping at their heels and sometimes getting through before Leger Corner at the start of the pit straight to the great delight of the crowd. Rinse and repeat!

Makes the heart race

Just a little bit about said performance of those Minis. ;)

Exhilarating. The "stiction" in cornering was astounding. I ran my 998 Morris Cooper on Michelin X tyres. With improvements in breathing, it'd just grab the tarmac in its teeth, ripping corners to shreds, to eventually run out of revs at 99 mph.

Incidentally, here's what he's talking about regarding weight transfer to the front (not my car)...
