Higgs boson

I have one in my bedroom. :sly:

No seriously guys I think they shouldn't have spent so much money looking for the thing - at the moment we should try to build a better foundation and support developing countries.

Without going into a complete off-topic hijack, the thing with supporting developing countries is that they tend to start relying on that support, and at the same time cease developing. Not to mention the multiple diversions such support tends to disappear into.

As the human race develops, there will come a time when we find ourselves pretty much run out of planet. A good understanding of the physics involved in our environment would be a good thing to have if we are to survive past the point that our planet cannot support us, either through loss of resources, excessive population, climate change (which can be a naturally-occurring process,) or alien invaders. I would not be comfortable were I present at that day and had to answer questions such as, "Why don't we know how to do something about this?"

As for the Higgs boson, the BBC had an article in December about a possible "glimpse" but they're very careful to say that there's not nearly enough data to make an actual claim.
