HKS drag cars

Hi guys
What is our opinion on the HKS drag cars
I have found tht they are good for nothing pieces
of junk.
I know they are for test course but i get on fine with
my 3000gt for test course.

what do you think?

ya know i think a car withh 1000+ bhp, that doesn't steer worth a crap, is pretty much good for nothing, however, if you took the time, or if someone else did, to sit maybe work on a suspension setup, it actually handle a lil better, i dunno, still kinda new to the game, but it sounds like a good idea.....i think i may work on it and see if i can come up with anything.....if any of you guys have any ideas or hints about this, let me know
Thanks Mattie

But the course isn't a straight line.

I think the least PD could have done would be to give the car some turning ability - may as well put that 1011hp to good use.

Oh well. No use whining over what could have been.

I've tried and tried, and I couldn't do much with either of the Drag Cars, except for the odd 400/1000m tests. I have done some incredible top-speeds, but that was with a good bit of drafting via giving the others a 30-second head-start.

I did win one race at RRV with the Drag 180SX, but the competition consisted of an Alfa, two Jags, a Lister, and an Calibra. Normally, they're not the toughest of competition, but with a little wall-riding and an un-godly amount of smacking around the AI, it was a close race.

You must have felt like just pushing the "get me the hell out of here!" button after less than a lap.

I wouldn't inflict that thing on any track other than the Test Course.

But how I miss Red Rock Valley. I might pull the ole GT2 out tonight. :D

Come on guys - they're not pieces of junk, they're drag cars! Any attempt to tune the suspension to make them handle will result in hair-pulling frustration, as it should. They're both real cars (HKS Skyline, HKS 180SX), and they are both very good at what they were designed to do: go real fast in a straight line. If you want to drive a course with more than two corners, pick a more suitable car for God's sake... :)

Power without control is a straight line :)

FWIW, a fully tuned Intrepid (which looks like a drag car) is also fairly ungainly.

I think most of us agree on that point, but TMM has apoint when he/she says that a drag car without any drag track to use it is useless.
Imagine a Ferrari included in Richard Burns Rally :)

He... It doesn't mention my sex in the profile page, is that a mistake or ....?

I don't know, set the Ferrari up correctly and it might be a very good rally car, but yes I see your point.

A number of Ferrari models have competed in tarmac rallies over the years; Ferrari themselves were all set to enter Group B rallys with the 288 GTO Evolutzione, until group B rallying was banned and the development cars (believed to number between 5 and 6) were sold off. One however became the development mule for the F40.

Are you a Ferrari fan? I like the comment about Ralph's driving, bet he was upset with his wife when he found out. Who is Ralph driving for in this season's F1?

I am a Ferrari fan, but more than that I'm just a fan of all things automotive.

As my wife says 'I love cars too much', its been my passion since I saw the RAC Rally GB pass the village I grew up in at the age of 7.

I've worked in the motor industry for most of my adult life, and after my wife and kids it pretty much dominates everything I do.

BTW Ralf is driving for Toyota this year; must admit not a big F1 fan myself. It was good in the 70's and 80's, but now GT, Touring cars and in particular rallying get me going.

I heard about Ralf's parking fiasco. Quite comical that. Many people don't actually know that Toyota have quite a nice engine in F1. It's the Chassis that lets them down. Or so I hear. Compared to BAR Honda (the F1 team I support) BAR has a good package but it's major draw is it's gearbox and gear system. BAR walk a very fine line on their engines however. They have had the largest amount of engine failures compared to any other team. Even in testing. Most occuring under Sato's control but it's more probably that Sato's driving technique is just to aggressive for the engine. He's like a mini montoya in a way.

Anyways that's my 2 cents.

Further proof, not that it's needed, that GT2 should have had a drag strip included!!!

There was a Drag Strip originally but it got cut there is even a part in the instruction manual for it. Palm Strip I belive was the name of the strip you can see it pop up on the opening movie, on the Arcade Disc.

So what happened then?

I changed the tires on both my HKS Drag cars to that of the Zexel skyline, I also added the Four wheel drive train and they steered just terriffic! I would put one of them up against any other car on any track!

I would of like to have drove the car as it was mint to be driven, But it was lousey around the corners, So I fixed it! :D Hacking GT2 was the only way to get hidden cars, It was mandatory!

I might try that and see what they drive like.

You can also just change the name of it to that of a differnt car, Then go buy a differential etc... Tune it to where you like it and change the name back and save it! Mines has a 7 Speed Tranny, 4 wheel drive and 1600HP and handles great!!!
