honda nsx-r gt

DRIFT GOD
i read somewhere that a supercharger kit would cost around $50 k for the NSX, im not sure if its true or not.

$50,000 US!? :scared:

There is a Supercharged NSX getting around my area and I know for a fact it didnt cost him even close to that price.

McLaren F1GTR Just bought a supercharger for his, cant remember how much he said but it wasnt too bad.

In the 60's Pontiac put a 195cubic inch 4 cylinder in to the Pontiac tempest, the engine was a Pontiac 389 cubic inch V8 with one whole bank of cylinders cut off. Im not sure what adjustments they made to make the engine run correctly.
Like I said about the M3 and M5 engines, its not as easy as just chopping off cylinders. You have crank, cooling, oiling, firing order, rotating balance and other issues to deal with. I have no doubt that the engine you talk of, and the M3 engine I speak of, are based on another larger engine. Thats easy. But, its not just a simple task or chopping and inserting.

I assume your well aware people do make there own 26B's from parts of 2 13B's.
Show me proof of this, and I'll gladdly change my view. I've never, EVER heard of or seen anyone with anything like that. I have a friend with an FC who is very involved in the RX7 community, so I hear about lots of wild rotary projects. The 20B, sure. Thats an expensive, but doable mod. But, I've yet to see or hear of a 26B engine in non-race applications. Again, not calling you a liar. But I've never seen this. Show me proof and I'll gladly retract statements.

Yes obvisiously you cant just cut off cylinders and have a working engine thats why I said I not sure what adjustmaent they made on the Pontiac motor. but on that motor it even looks like a V8 with half chopped off, While the M3 motor doesnt look out of the ordinary.

20B is a fairly common transplant here in Australia from Mazda Cosmo's.

As for the 4 rotor engine, There is a few around in Australia there is a 4 rotor BMW

(to bad you cant see the engine good enough to prove it is a 4 rotor, all the sites I visited said it is)

In the US I know of 2 RX7's that have 4 rotors in them, there is some vids of rhem getting around.

Ok here is a website dedicated to making 4 rotor rotories including engine pics http://www.4rotor.com.

They had to make a custom CNC machined 4 rotor eccentric shaft.

Thats cool. I've never seen that before. Looks like a pain in the ass, and a hell of a lot of work, but what ever. I stand corrected.

Yeah from what ive read it is a big pain in the ass.

a quote "After some damage from a ripped off oil cooler line, the 4 rotor was replaced with a 700hp alky burn'n small block Chevy, which proved more than competitive, and consumed way less time"

Yea, totally. I mean, I'm sure it seems like a fun project before starting. But there is just sooooo much stuff that has to be custom fabricated with something like that, it just ends up being a pain in the ass. It would be VERY unique and sweet for sure. But, the pros just don't outweigh the cons of fabbing it up in my book.

Definitely agree with you there.

so THAT'S what a rotary looks like...even from a custom shop.

they still sell Cosmos in Oz? huh, I was undder the impression that Maz dropped that label (probably due to ford's influence)...last cosmo we had up here in the states was late 70's.

Mazda still made the Cosmo's upto 1995 in Japan with 20B rotory engines (3 rotors), We get alot of Japanese imports and parts so we get Cosmo's that way.

I saw a 4 rotor RX-7 in some modding mag not too long ago. Like you guys said, it sounds like a great project but with all the extra parts and work you need compared to other projects it does seem a waste of time.
