So.. I got to "enjoy" my '60 Biscayne for all of three weeks before it blew up on the highway. (after waiting TWO YEARS! I hate mechanics!) I hate old cars..
First my lexus dies due to a massive electrical failure,
Then I wait two years on a Chevy, drive it three weeks and it throws a rod or a bearing or something, Not to mention that, but I got threatened with a 500 dollar parking ticket per day for each day the car remained at my house. If it wasn't raked forward it would have set off the garage sensor. When we put it on the trailer, (a BIG gooseneck) it couldn't even get up the trailer! It stopped running halfway off of the ramp, and then the starter wouldn't engage due to a solenoid problem or bad wiring. I TOLD the mechanic about that, but he said that a heat shield would suffice. Dumbass. Then I had to leave the car halfway up a trailer in the middle of a street in southern Johnson county, Kansas, while I went and bought a come-a-long. (Blocking a driveway.. the neighbors hated the car already) Biggest disappointment of my life so far. (Besides getting denied by the University of Minnesota for getting a C in a weighted class) Even If I worked all summer every day for eight hours, I wouldn't be able to fix what's wrong with it.
And now the Saab I have been driving for a year is falling apart (or trying to) around me. I hate cars. Damn computers. Damn Linn county Missouri mechanics. Damn my patience with stupid people!
Now, I'm going off to college in four months, and I won't have the time, money, or space to fix the damn thing. This sucks. I can't be in a car that idles below 1300 rpm without thinking it's going to stop running. When there's a lull in the Saab's acceleration, I think it's going to stop running and not even engage the starter. Every time I start a car I pray to some imaginary diety to let it turn over and ignite for a few cycles. Thanks, Biscayne, you piece of ****.
I want an original factory spec '33 ford.
I don't want to have to worry about a 1500 dollar parts bill when the "Radio/Infotainment" fuse gets wet inside the car and blocks the circuit. I don't want a simple malfunction caused by an idiot not grounding my car properly to render it useless. I don't want some computer turning my car off because a sensor isn't sure how much gas is really in the tank.
So.. that's my rant. Now I've vented.
