hey, that camaro is good stuff. it has some nice design, but I am amazed that the dude really appeared in popular hot rodding. I could be there, then!!! his designs are no big deal. just redesigned the thing with some elements of the past. I can do that. I HAVE done that. My respect to the guy. he has some good eye.

-___- please. they could be made in the cavalier platform and theyd look the same. dont come on that on any illlustrations that arent official, please. much less ones thata re afroma 19 year old dwarf (a very talented dwarf, if you ask me :eek: )

anyway, look at this thing. for my money, it looks like a 52-54 chevrolet, but SO severely worked!! its been even sectioned!! check out those proportions!!!

that thing sure looks good, I liked that they didnt ocverdid the wheels by adding some 20+ inch billet things, but kept it cool with some 15-16 inch Halibrands. that makes the look of the car, and the car looks COOL.

572ci 1969 Dodge Charger R/T

When seeing Robert Frost's custom 1969 Dodge Charger R/T for the first time, you will probably be most amazed at the paint job. The red candy paint looks so fabulous that you can't stop staring at the car. The color will change from a brilliant cherry red to a deep maroon depending on the light, and sometimes the car seems to be two different colors if light and shadows combine. To say "pictures don't do this car justice" is a gross understatement. Then, if you actually get to see the car in more detail, you will be even more amazed. The factory 440 V8 has been replaced with a Mopar 572 cubic-inch engine which lies in a beautiful engine bay lined with chrome. All electrical wires have been hidden and steel brades hoses have replaced the rubber ones. Both the exterior and interior of the car are absolutely spotless.

Frost first bought his Charger R/T twenty years ago in 1983. At that time, the car was painted green and had a green vinyl top. He decided to restore the entire car and ended up painting the car red with a white top and white interior. The leather seats (SE models like Frost's came with leather seats and a wood dash) were also changed to white to match the top. The 440 engine in the car was fully restored and remained in the car throughout the 1980's and early 1990's.

Then in the mid-90's, Frost decided he wanted some more "go" along with the "show". Although the 440ci engine produced sufficient power back in 1969 (390 bhp @ 4700 rpm and 490 lb-ft @ 3200 rpm), emissions regulations in the 1970's and 1980's had robbed a good amount of power from the engine. Frost replaced the stock 440 engine with another 440 that had an increased bore for an overall displacement of 498 cubic inches. The car was definitely quicker, but after the engine was damaged drag racing and had to be replaced, Frost opted again for more cubic inches. This time the new 440 Mopar block was bored to an incredible 572 cubic inches. Think the Dodge Viper's liter engine is big? Well, 572ci is just about equal to 9.5 liters. This engine is the quintessential example of the saying "there's no replacement for displacement".

So how fast is the car? Ridiculously fast. At the drag strip the car runs low 12 second 1/4 miles - 12.2 seconds @ 111 mph. Not that fast you say? But what if I said the drag strip was at 6000 feet? If this car were to run at sea level, eleven second runs would be easily attainable, and Frost thinks that if he can get the right set-up on the car that at sea level "it could be running in the tens." In fact, Frost even thinks that elevens are attainable at his local track in Denver. Considering the Charger probably weighs at least 4000 pounds, this is one heck of a fast car.

What is really incredible about Frost's Charger is that it can not only drag race, but it is a show car as well. He claims the car started out as a restoration of a classic muscle car, then turned into a racing car, and then turned into a show car. Now it does both. The spotless exterior and interior combined with the red candy paint and the massive engine have caused many fans to vote it the best of its category in several car shows. Although racing may not benefit the show aspect of his car, Frost strongly believes "that's what the car was intended to do." He also added "what good is it if you don't run the car?"

I can't help but respect Frost and his Charger. Frost not only owns one of the fastest cars on the street, but it also the best looking muscle car I have ever seen. The car not only takes first place at shows, but more often than not finishes first at the drag strip as well. As a car enthusiast you have to appreciate that Frost uses his car for what it was intended - ripping up the pavement and not keeping it locked away in a garage. It makes me wish there were more car enthusiasts with Frost's philosophy, and that there were more cars like his 1969 Charger R/T out there on the street.

ridiculously fast?? please. if it was a ten second car it would be reidiculously fast. it is too drag-racer for me, but the car is really gorgeous. and, 'sides, its a show car :scared: :irked: :mad: so it doest count. great car, indeed.

nope, none of the above, its a 4.6 liter modular engine. the ones that come in the mustangs and the such, but the dude just changed the injection system... it's all aluminum, so it is polished to death. it looks cool, if you ask me... it may not be as strong as a hemi but I think it'll get the job done... Im trying to get a pic of the car bur i cant find none. I'll keep lookin.

i was going to guess 427 SOHC, but i guess a 281 SOHC would make more sense (price wise).
