How about putting steering wheels on the right side

I'm sick of GT5 having the steering wheels on the right for cars that in their home country are on the left. Golf R for example. It might be nitpicking but I don't want to drive a German car on the wrong side.

If the car isn't exclusively sold in Germany or exclusively sold in a single configuration then it doesn't matter, you just can't pretend that other configurations don't exist in the rest of the world aka majority so you'll just have to suck it up.

It would be nice to have an option - in the ideal world any car with a RHD conversion would be available in the game with a RHD version in the dealership.. but that's an awful lot of extra modelling work so it's understandably not there.

If they already modeled the JDM version of the car, there isn't much that can be done.
It's not such a big deal. A big part of the basic inside structure can be mirrored and then they'd only have to move asymmetrical elements to the other side so that if fits. Doesn't need that much time, mainly because you do not have to model anything new (or only a few small details).

And tada, one car more in GT6, although it's actually the same car...

Um what? The majority are left hand drive. A right hand drive Golf R would only be sold in the UK and Japan.

They've probably scanned local cars. And I also don't see the problem, you aren't pulling out of any junctions are you? :)

How is it wrong when you're driving in the right side, you confuses me.
For us some European it is, expecially on native left side wheel cars. I don't mind driving Uk or Japanese on the right but all German and Italian cars should be on the left.

Remember Volvo C30. The one included in GT5 is R-Design version developed for Japanese market. No wonder it's RHD.

I really would have liked the LCD clock in the RX7 interior to display correct time. That would have been so cool.

This! Happens in Forza (well from what I remember seeing in a number of cars). That and properly working gauges. Aftermarket gauges on some cars work, some dont.

But we get European cars in right hand drive. Fact of the matter is for cars available in both for someone it'll be on the "wrong" side, with a worldwide game there really is no avoiding it.

The problem arises when you mirror textures. You can't just copy, mirror and paste them as fonts/symbols/etc each have to be fitted in with the mirrored interiors. Knowing PD they would get completely stuck working on such details so just to get the current Premiums in both versions their car modellers would be busy for a full year.

So it just won't happen. :indiff:

While talking about this subject, I'd really like a license plate editor though. Just put some Japanese or British or Australian plate on your Golf and it'd be realistic. Easier to implement as well as they have the parameters for each license plate already, they'd only need to give us optional additional plates on cars that don't have any (I think there are very few without, like the Murciélago) and let us edit the background colour + text/symbols shown on it... thinking about it that'd require a completely new kind of editor letting us create such things... could be implemented together with a livery editor using the same programming... ah well... going a bit far now.

But you can...

With mirror I mean the 3D structure of the dashboard, wheel etc. Then you take the elements, mainly smaller textures with letters, numbers symbols, which can't be mirrored, such as gauges, and move them over. It's not hard to cut textures. Most cars have a symmetrical interior, then it's really no deal.

Really, that needs less than a day.

And the cost benefit to PD would be? Considering that this would only apply to a subset of the subset of people using cockpit view, I'd much rather they spent that time just converting cars to premium quality.

There's no benefit for them. I was just saying that it wouldn't need that long.

I've got it!! Make an optional all black dashboard just like with standards, for right hand drive, for all cars!!:sly:

To be honest if something like this makes you sick, I question whether you ought to be taken seriously.

Less than a day, for how many people to work on, for how many cars? This could take months and months.

And Thailand and Australia an India and a fair amount of African countries and...

Personally I don't really care.
But as always an option would be good.
