im addicted to game but im afraid i suck at it. :dunce: ive been playing for 1 month and am on day 500+ but only 5% game completion. have all licences except super which is impossible so far. completed all b missions and a few a missions.

i now have a ruf with over 1000 hp (nos) that does 10 sec 1/4 mi and can top out over 275 mph on top speed test. also fully adjustable suspension/trans and all kind of tires but still cant win.

i can win a 2 lap lemans race but only if i blast through the 1st chicane. monoco lets me lead for laps 2-5 but always loose on last lap.

i know practice makes perfect but felt the need to rant

You do need to rant... At 5 percent, that means you havent even completed any of the Pro Hall, if you even completed the beginner hall... To learn, I suggest buying a cheap stock car, getting it to around 250-300hp, than running the beginnners cup over and over again... Its an overpower with your car, but an underpower from what your driving, which will teach you abit more on how to drive slower... Your probelm is turns, which well... is the most important part of racing...

Every racer I have seen interviewed on TV always said "It's not about how fast your car is. It's how well you control it." or something to that effect. An old Toyota Levin in the hands of a great driver can beat a Nissan Skyline in the hands of a terrible driver.

And don't feel bad, If I where to race online with some of these guys here at GTP, I would lose 95% of the time.

finally improving. i put the suspension in full stiff/lowest possible with supersoft front and soft rears. now the 1000 hp is able to be controlled and tires can last few laps.

i have most of the professional series finished with golds. hoping to move on to the harder events soon

I believe RUFs are RR, so they are oretty hard to drive in the first place. I recommend buying a Lexus IS200 (J) and practicing with that car (you'll need it for the Altezza cup anyway). If you do a search, there is a list of cars for beginners; not too fast, not too slow, easy to handle, etc.

Best of luck, and keep us posted.

If you're having troubles in the corners, remember this...
*slow in, fast out.*
As Jackie Stewart said on Top Gear. Don't go pressing the accelerator on and then off and then on and then off and then finally back on again.
(don't got the exact quote...:grumpy:)

"Don't press down the accelerator until you're sure you won't need to lift off."

Go back from the start, and go through the licenses B-S slowly. By this I mean study the demonstration videos and listen to the worded advice the game gives you. Try and manage silver in atleast 75% of the tests.

Failing that, buy yourself a nice, relatively low-powered FR car (MX-5, Silvia) and practice, practice, practice. For someone who can't manage to obtain the 'A' and subsequent licenses yet, driving a fully modified, 1600kg, 1000bhp RR vehicle is definitely not going to be easy.

i have a new porsche 997 gt3 that i track at limeroc, wat glen and pocono. they are amazingly similar. the 415 hp of the real car seems as fast as the 1000hp of the game.

so far i have all the licenses other than the super. i completed all the b missions, the beginning races, most of the pro races and most of the special condition races.

im the same type of intermediate level driver in real life as virtual life. does anyone else here do real track days?

I live 20 minutes from Lime Rock. Look what I spotted there last summer. And no I don't go to track days with my Kia. Click on picture to see full size.
