i have a question for everyone out there. on the formula gt championship ( the one with f1 cars) how are you supposed to do it all the races take about 2 hours and there are 15 it would take about 30 hours to do all of them help someone PLEASE!!!!!! :nervous:

You don't have to do them all in the one sitting. You can save your game inbetween races.

wait a minute.., when you exit in the middle of a championship race, you can return to it a little while later to take a break.., you can change the oil, right?? you can also save your championship progress?? like, you are now in race 3, exit then save your game, turn off your PS3 then turn on again, next thing you are now in race 4?? is that it??

Nope. Once you start the championship, one of two things must happen before you can do any car-hunting, oil changing or anything like that.
1. Finish the championship
2. Quit the championship

You can only pop out of the championship if your purpose is to save. You can't change cars.....you can't do anything other than that!!

Actually you can change oil mid-championship after you've exited to the home screen to save. 👍 But you can't change cars or buy more modifications.

However, it's a moot point in the Formula Gran Turismo World Championship, since you can't actually change the oil on the Polyphony Formula Gran Turismo '04 anyway! :sly:

Ahhh, true that, I completely forgot about doing that for the 1000 mile race. :ouch: Got to get back into racing the AI, been too long due to testing/sprints/tuner comps etc.

You can B-Spec it, but B-Spec Bob/Bella is particularly good on some circuits like the Nurburgring.

The Formula GT races are all around 300 km, and shouldn't take much longer than 1.5-2 hours apiece. Of course, you can back out and save between each race (the screen will have a flashing banner in the upper corner telling you what championship you're currently running), thereby allowing you to shut your PS2 down until you're ready for the next race.

A suggestion concerning the race, if I may: in the setup menu (suspension, specifically) tune out all of your rear toe angle. The computer has the FGT's rear toe angle set to the maximum negative value by default, and that will chew up your rear tires like nobody's business. Set that value to zero and your tires should last about twice as long (if not more) than the rest of the field. Reducing downforce and upping your ballast will also net you a few extra points, while also making you a bit faster in the straights.

i cheated on mine because I have have the money and resources too and i'm not going to sit in front of the screen doing OR Watching 100 laps go by

It's actually pretty fun to do the Formula GT races, though you do need to up your A-Spec points to do so. I found the time actually went pretty quickly - except on Motegi Oval, and, to a lesser extent, Seoul - but the only race I didn't do was the Nurburgring because I can't control the car there. I handed over to B-Spec Bella and she came dead last by over a minute, breaking my 100% victory rate. After that, I don't think I finished the championship. I was heartbroken (or at the very least, slightly annoyed) that Bella had failed me.

Yes, Nurburgring is one of the more difficult FGT races to win. First, if you try it in A-spec, it's difficult to keep the car on the track because the front wheels lift off the ground so much, and even if you can, you face pitting every lap because (at least with my hard-on-tires driving style) you wear the tires out before halfway through the second lap after a pit stop and are then forced to drift/spin out the whole way back to the pits.

I finished dead last the first time through, after trying to go two laps myself and failing miserably, falling back to last with several spins on angry red tires. Then my B-spec driver crashed himself a couple times, once or twice due to an AI blocking the track and the others because I stupidly put him on "push" to try to catch up.

When I went back to the race, I used only B-spec, and learned Bob/Bella could handle a speed setting of 4 and not leave the track at all, except for the section between the Karussel (probably misspelled) and the straight, where I set him on 3. It worked like a charm.

if you B-Spec it set your car up so it's quite a bit faster than the AI, put the speed setting on 3 and wait for the race to end. that's how i do the really long races

What i find a good idea...at least a-spec some of the laps, because my b-spec bob just sucks. Somehow, he did a complete spinout on super speedway. However, when he was halfway through Nurburgring, he was winning by 3 seconds! It's a matter of patience.

i b-spec it and when i did the nurburgring race my b - spec bob lapped the AI about 7 times

:dunce: That's categorically untrue.
Seriously, the FGTWC race at Nurburgring is only 25 laps, there's no way on Earth that your B-spec driver however gifted was able to finish 25 laps while the AI drivers in identical cars only managed 18.

Please think about what you're posting before you begin typing. You've been here 4 days, created 7 threads, every single one of which has been locked, and your profile signature is an AUP violation  & has 2 words spelled wrong. :dunce:

Actually, it's 15 laps..:sly:

:dunce: Sorry! :guilty: So my post was categorically untrue too, but makes maccasufc's original post even less believable, 7 laps up in a 15 lap race? Puhlease! :dopey:

i kinda did the same only i had such a gap in points to 2nd i could skip the races from Susuka (I think) so therefore skipping the Nurburgring. I did do one race complety A-Spec and that was the High Speed Ring if you have the time its rewarding

Yes, high-speed ring is quite easy for a-spec. I (rather cowardly), skipped the last 6 races though. Only do it if you seem to have a lot of spare time.

Personally I hate B-Spec.....how did Boo-Boo-Bob manage to do a 360 spin-out on the high speed ring...or continually make the same error at Laguna Seca time after time.....so much for AI .......by the way I finally managed to get my final gold....whooopeeeeeee 80 GOLD.

NEW MEMBER ????????? actually I've been a member for quite some time, I just never post..... Just mostly read the threads.

Mate, there's an edit button for a reason. If you need to say something extra, edit it in to your original post. And yes, the "New Member" tag is based on your post count.

So your a Diamond Member well whoopee for you, It does not give you the liberty to smack down on anyone who does not post every single day. I will add whatever I want to my post I do not need some arrogant putz like you to tell me where and when to edit.:indiff:

@ Blackjaxe: Perhaps you'd like to hear it from a staff member instead then?

Use the edit button to edit more information into your original post.
Do NOT double post.
Do not get abusive when another member politely points out a site rule to you.

Clear?

Firm but fair, Smallhorses 👍. I have a question now that is going to make me sound like a n00b rather than a veteran who has been playing from when GT1 was released ...

... is it really true that you can change the oil in a long championship (as asserted earlier in this thread)? It has always been my understanding that you cannot, just as you can't refresh the chassis when it wears out half way through a series.

It's too late to do me any good being 100%, 100,000+ A-Spec but it'd be nice to know for sure.

Sukerkin, I am quite sure you do not have access to GT Auto as IIRC everything there takes a day, although I could be wrong and will look into it.

Actually, an oil change doesn't burn a day, and you can change oil mid-championship.

I know 'cos I've done it and documented it here:

Polyphony Digital Cup, 100% clean, in a stock '73 Skyline!

The oil began to go off after 6 races, and although I was able to take advantage of the increase A-spec points due to the HP loss at El Capitan, I had to do an oil change after race 8, before I could compete cleanly at Suzuka in race 9.
