How fast can you type? Personally, I can do about 50-70 wpm on paragraphs and 80-90 wpm on sentences. I'm thinking there must be some very fast typers around here.

66WPM with 0 Errors when I'm trying to be accurate, and usually, if I try I can get upto 85WPM with 0 Errors. :sly:

I think thats the range most good typers around would be in. Its hard for me to average 85, but I can get there if i really push it. Thats not saying its at all accurate.

I'm quite quick at typing the words I use a lot and the phrases that I use on the unix command line at work. I'm not so quick at throwing in brackets, exclamation points, question marks, dollars signs and that sort of thing. So I usually don't do so well on the typing tests. I can score 70 wpm on typing tests but that's some of my slower typing.

I peck type and I'd say that for every 10 words, I'll at least have 1 error for every 10 words I type... :guilty: I've got what they call the "stupid fingers." I don't do the single finger peck typing, but I don't put my hands on the keyboard like I should...

70-75 wpm for a simple, 1-minute timed test. Always about 94% accuracy (consistency!).

Like danoff, I have a lot of trouble with anything in the top number-row, and some of the special characters smooched to the right of the keyboard.

Well some days I can mess up and make mistakes alot, but I can average over 85wpm when I'm really pumped up. My fingers seem to just have their own brains, connected to my own brain, and they just seem to type at light speed. Normally I think aroun 70wpm.

I only know in characters, I can get up to about 300 chars per minute if I'm warmed up a little. Could that be something like 60 wpm? (I think I remember a word here means 5 characters). That's typing something I've never read before, when I type my own thoughts it goes a lot faster, pretty much as fast as I can think em. In fact, my fingers are often waiting for my brain to come up with the rest of the sentence. :D

I can type at lighting speed on MSN, because I don't generally use grammar, except for commas and the occasional full stop. If there are some things I think other people won't understand, I use grammar so that they will. But while not using proper grammar, I can type too fast for the keyboard some times, and end up with "lo", "ll" or "ol" instead of "lol", or even "GT", "GA" or "TA" instead of "GTA". It's frustrating sometimes.

I took Keyboarding way back in first year highschool, but it never took. I still type with my index and middle fingers of both hands, and my thumbs. I can still manage to type at the speed of slightly slowed down speech, usually with no errors.

My real skill shows whenever I have had to type an essay for school. I have never been a fan of outlines, so I have always had to type as I see things in my head. I am good at organizing my thoughts in a coherent way before typing them out, and my essays rarely need editing along the lines of re-organization.

umm... i should be somewhere between 50 and 60... but I don't know what i'm at since I haven't done a speed test in a very long time.

Last year I was like, 45wpm. I think I've increased dramatically now with all the constant MSN convos I've been having since then.

I don't know. If I'm typing when I'm on the phone, the person I'm talking to asks if I'm typing real words. I guess I'm reasonably quick.

I can type around 70 wpm if I have something to copy, if I have to think things up as I go like when I post things here it usually slows down to about 60 wpm. Jesus some of you type 80-90 wpm.....that is really fast.

Some of us are basing that off MSN, in which alot of people don't use grammar. This includes myself. Posting on GTP, I can probably type at between 60 and 70 wpm.

I took a test today and got 57wpm.

Typing while in the phone?! How rude! :P

I think I can type about 40-50WPM. Yahoo IM and MSN IM have really improved my typing skills over the last 3 years. 👍
