How Important Should Automobile History be in the Next GT?

Maybe some fully electric or even hydrogen powered cars.
But honestly if they left it out, it'd make the game a whole lot funner and a lot less like a history exam, in my opinion.

Don't look at this like a history lesson. Since GT4, the plan was to celebrate the automobile and automobile history. Yes, the 19th Century Daimlers were slow as hell, but if you keep looking at cars as a chance to go faster and faster, then you're violating automobile history. Or look at it like this. I don't admit being a rock music guy, but if you don't appreciate names like The Beatles, Aerosmith, Led Zepplin, Jimi Hendrix, and all them, how can you appreciate rock music? Likewise, would you rather just race cars and not care about automotive history or how far automobiles have come? Come on now. This is the same reason why people just want fast and powerful cars only. Then, they are the same ones who b*tch and moan about Gran Turismo just being a pain in the ass and not about Burnout-style racing. You want Burnout-style racing, you get one of those games. You dig?

Gran Turismo's always been about the cars. Fun can be had in any automobile. Indy race cars nowadays can do over 220 at Indianapolis. But in the 1969, they could go around 150 mph. If GT4 had one of those beautiful Jaguar longnose cars that raced Le Mans in the 1960s, it would be sugar sweet racing them. Part of enjoying Gran Turismo is about looking back in time respecting past automobiles in addition to today's vehicles. Don't you want to learn about cars in addition to driving or racing them at speed? In terms of speed, that Auto Union streamliner in GT4 was pretty damn fast. Don't you American car afficionados love the Sting Ray Corvettes or the earliest Mustangs? I'll agree that there was one fatal flaw with GT4's attempt at capturing automobile history, and that is a lack of info on the cars like in GT's 1 through 3. I think it HAS to return in future installments. I kind of prefer reading maybe three or four lines of text scrolling upward, as I kind of can't keep up with a bottom-scrolling text on a car. I'm not looking for an "edutainment" game in racing (would decimate GT), but have reason to be convinced about WHY a 1940s VW Beetle is a classic auto as opposed to PD just telling me it is, you know? Understand the history of the automobile. If you love automobiles, why not know the history of the automobile as opposed to just being into cars? It's something you can do privately for your greater good as a car fan.
