That sounds like a whole heap of fun!
I, myself, don't believe that racing is only exciting when everybody is flying around at 300 mph. In that case a 100m foot-race sprint wouldn't excite me - but it does. In fact, the 100M at the Olympics is one of the most exciting races ever - whether swimming or running still doesn't matter. It's not always about excessive speed - its about how close the competition is. This is the reason Gordon and even JJ became unpopular - they would leave the pack and take off and what's the thrill in that? For both spectators and participants alike the rush comes from the competition being close enough that the outcome is unpredictable till the last millisecond.
Obviously, you have the right idea in arranging your lobby to meet this criteria.
Doesn't matter whether SRF is on or off, as long as it's a level playing field - everyone shod in Nikes or everyone running barefoot. The low PP also encourages many to join because the racing is actually more perceptible at those speeds; manoeuvres, overtaking, the look of the cars - all this comes into sharper focus and is a treat to the senses - as opposed to blindly rushing off towards the finish line.
My approval of what you are doing! (If my approval means anything at all

)
Whenever I
do go online in search of lobbies, I always look for GTPlanet-member hosted lobbies (which is why I tried to join your room sometimes) and now that I'm more clear at what you are doing I will most certainly be trying again.
I used to host an all-day (10 in the morning to 10 at night EST) Lobby at the Ring in days gone by on Sundays - which was very, very popular - we would have 1 lap races (with a 6 minute gap between races) all day long, and the room got extremely busy at times. Sometimes I would hand the hosting over and then return later to take up the room. Other times, even as host, I would sit the races out and merely spectate (and watch for cheating or nasty racers) and that was fun, too.
From what I hear (and see via the hundreds of downloads on YouTube now) there are also player-created lobbies in GTSport - but WTH is the use of that if we cannot race our beloved production cars? I caught a member the other day wailing in a thread about being unable to race a VW Golf - and I could totally emphatize - as anyone would who actually owned that model of the Golf IRL.
We want to race our own cars - if unable to do so IRL, then at least virtually - and against real people in
their choice of production car. This switch in GT to a heavily race-car oriented discipline (while the life and soul of the game to some who demand such to be accepted by everybody else (millions) willing to shell out sixty bucks) is not palatable to everybody.
And since I can't see GTSport accommodating everything many people loved about the series - classic cars, non-existent cars (think Furai), cars that want to kill people (like the Stratos and Yellowbird), B-Spec, Trading, Sharing, Gifting, etc - and the deal-breaker; that Saves are online - is going to split the fan-base - and maybe that's okay; if Podi doesn't forget the millions that also want something
other than daily sterile racing in race-cars with no other mission than to be 1st (some of us are already satisfied that we actually hit the Egg and have got over
that program.)
There is that old saying about how it's not
more important about winning than about how one plays the game . . . and I see your success at keeping your lobby popular due to that.
BTW - slightly off-topic (but now that I got your attention) the first person that came to mind when I heard about
Hurricane Harvey was you - which made me rush in to GTPlanet hurriedly to cobble together a Storm Watch thread. Glad to see you up and running again!
