How is Gymkhana when using a wheel?

Playing with my G27. Turned down the force feedback a bit, but still enough to feel what the car is doing. Only ABS is on, all the rest if off.

At first I hated gymkhana, but after some practise it's lots of fun. (although slightly frustrating to get platinum sometimes)
For the drift event in the gym school I put the h-shifter in second and mostly kept full throttle. Only used the steering to control the drifts.

For most cars I hardly get out of 2nd and 3rd for the gymkhana events.

edit: oh,and I'm using the hood view.

Dirt3 doesn't wreck your wheel. The amount of FF I use on pc sims are like triple the amount of what Dirt3 can do (I play Dirt on the PS3 btw). And with proper rallying or gymkhana you steer with the pedals really. Of course wheels wear out, but that's normal.

On Gymkhana with wheel vs. pads. I've been racing with a wheel for ages and got a ps3 only since GT5 came out. So for me the wheel is so much easier. I must say that Gymkhana is a complete new discipline for me. Took me a bit to get it going but it's fun if you get the hang out of it.

FUN!! But what most people say it is pretty hard. I was doing the gymkhana tutorial yesterday and turned off all assist(pretty cake with them on). Ended up playing nearly every stage about 20 times but was able to pull platinum in 3 of them and 1 gold. Will be going back to learn to get in more practice def fun tho.

Gmykhana is impossible lol. Best I can do is silver, and gold on a few.

I can get gold on the speedruns, and the occasion silver on the ones where you have to do all the tricks in order. But the ones where you have to plot your own routes are beyond me.

I can't help but feel Codemasters missed a few things that would have made gymkhana even better: more tricks. Why don't get get points for driving on two wheels? Or for being able to cut a J-turn? Or reverse spins and donuts? Slaloms?

What I really mis is an option where you can set out your own route at the DC training compound (battersea I guess?). Would be great if you can place your own smash objects and route in an editor.

Gymkhana is very tricky. I have Platinum'd all but 2, but let me say I spent some time on some lol and me being a perfectionist, Im making sure their clean. I get frustrated when some of the tricks dont register correctly.

Are some of you who are having a little problem with some using a wheel or pad? Perhaps usng a wheel is a little better for these events?
