I remember in the month before GT5 came out (back when I used to lurk GTPlanet) quite a few people obtained the game early somehow... how long do you guys think it'll be till someone gets their hands on GT6?

Depends on how early the game shops get them, and how much said members that work at the game shops value their jobs over GT6 before everyone else

I recall this happening. About 3 weeks prior to release a member posted links to actual gameplay, no sound, the vids were dubbed with classical music. Even then, some members doubted the authenticity of the uploads, saying hoax, fan made etc. This was the first time I saw Cape Ring. I'm not to sure whether other details were leaked, I can't remember, for some reason Cape Ring and dubbed music is my sharpest memory and even that has dulled over time.

People will have leaked copies, you can be sure of that. There's already nearly finished copies out there in the wild, but they're for either promotional or review purposes. They still need a few patches to bring them up to what we'll get on release with the day one patch.

This happened with GTA5 as well (apparently) and I remember with Gran Turismo 5 also, so I guess it will probably happen a week or a few days before GT6's release, there's always someone.

They are called green discs. They are full retail copies that are made for press members game reviewers and select members of the gaming world. FM did this with FM3 and FM4 with the forum mods and a few select fanboy type posters.

I think this is what Jordan is playing if he is in fact playing a full version.

A few weeks or a week before the game is released, journalists get a copy to review, this allows them to play the game for a considerable amount of time so they can get a verdict on it when the game releases officially. About at the end of November we'll start to see Journalists and some shady individuals outside of your Walmart parking lot getting their hands on a copy.

Not exactly, I think he described it as complete feature wise, but with some bug fixing to do. So not the gold master version, but probably not far away.

Promo copies can now be electronically watermarked to deter bootlegging - copies can be traced to the person they were issued to! However, this may not prevent us seeing some footage of 'final version' gameplay prior to release.

IF Jordan has a copy, he is too "Classy and Professional" to release any footage or info early if it will jeopardise this site and it's ability to get info or footage in the future. Others however......

In otherwise the man is very very smart.. of course we all knew that anyway.

I'm sure anyone who has been given one of these advance discs is under an NDA until release date. What I'm curious to know is, whether some average gamer somehow gets a retail copy a few days before release date, due to a random clueless game store employee giving them out earlier than they should have.

I honestly don't see what the big deal is when someone leaks information. It doesn't dissuade me from buying it, in fact quite the opposite happens!
All the companies want more sales so why not leak some stuff to get everyone talking?

Someone could start leaking negative observations before the launch date, creating a lot of bad press, which would definitely impact sales. And if PD/Sony only allowed the positive news to be 'leaked', then we wouldn't trust them anyway, knowing they're controlling what information is being released. Kind of a lose-lose situation.

And knowing GTP, there would be 100 critical remarks for every favourable comment.

I remember GT5 leak very well, I had that person who had GT5 in friends list and I knew about that he has to meet with someone who gave him one copy, when he cames home and I saw "Gran Turismo 5" under his PSN ID I was shocked... 16 day before release, and at the time no one knows new release date. I just grab my phone and film this video
hehe :D

So you posted that online to get him in trouble or???

I could be the one with the early copy. It was Monday evening and 3 copies suddenly appeared on czech auction site. Of course, I thought it was fake, but on of my "friends" gave it a shot and the next day, he had the game too.. man that sucked hard. So i jumped to the auction, and there still was 1 copy left, so i bought it and in about 3 days, i got a letter from police, that my package was siezed. Good times. Still, about 3 days before the official release, at 6pm, Datart started to sell the game early, so i jumped into my car and got my copy..not as early as the above mentioned guy, but still early. Little did i knew, that GT5 would dissapoint me so much, but that´s another story.. :)

Oh the memories..

I remember a guy from Czech Republic named tekken or something and he got GT5 really soon.. Anyway... Looking forward to leaks!

Well I am surely hoping for leaks. It is crucial to know what offline career mode is like. This will determine whether I buy GT6 or hold out til the PS4 release and even then I will role the dice. I NEED OFFLINE depth. If GT4 was released on PS3 instead of GT5, I would have loved PD for it.

i too remember a couple of Russian dudes who got their hands on the game 2 weeks or so before release and they posted some videos of the UCD, GTAuto and some other stuff. cant find the video but the guy had a honda civic, if that helps to jog anyone's memory.

The leaks are coming anyway, 2 weeks before release I believe. I wonder when GT6 will be on the internet so I can try it before the release date (I have a pre-ordered GT6 dont worry, Im gonna buy it anyway)
