I was bored

I'm very curious about a couple of things:
1. How you got the numbers for GT7, since more than half of the events are not covered during the "main story."
2. What you count to have been done to be a "completionist."
3. What you count as the "main story" vs "extras" in all of the other games that didn't have the Cafe Menu "story mode"?

Please enlighten me.

It's copy/paste from the website, how long to beat, it's pretty much spot on I'd say

Main Story aka Cafe
Completionist aka every single event on gold
Main story+ extras, café plus additional races, missions, licenses

Yes… because GT7 is not getting any further content and what we have is all there is to compare it to what you have copied and pasted from somewhere else

Nice going @Gt79

Well 1,2,3 and 4 didn't had any additional content added, because they were on disks and ps2 didn't had dlcs
So just going by that gt7 is just a desert, just posting facts, in before custom races

Denial is so strong here even when presented with facts, astounding really

Show me how you can buy all cars in 34 hours. Can you even see all cars in that timeframe?
Purchasing whole car list has nothing to do with completion, it's not even in the trophies, some actually considering getting platinum is completing the game, it's possible in some games, not this one however

What?

Driving 13,000km online

How long do you think this will take?

edit

By my rough math, it should take no less than 80 hours for that trophy.

So it's OK for games to launch with far less content than it's predecessor just because there are vague promises of updates, sometime?

Why bother buying games at launch in that case, just wait until they finish it a year or two later and pay less. Well, that's what I'm planning to do, but it seems you're suggesting everyone might as well do that. Not going to be good for game companies if they keep doing this and people do that.

There are also the missions and track experiences. But yeah it's still not more than half
Circuit experience is not part of completion, as it was in GTs, simply because there is no actual reward besides from some pitty cash, by that custom races should be included and they are definitely not

Oh were the GT Sport numbers from its launch so it’s actually comparable oh no they’re not…

Eh I'm ending my contribution in this thread.

The game tells us it's about collecting cars. You can't therefore "complete" the game unless you've collected all of them, which will take several eterneties.

The first four games are, the four games most people put on a pedestal as the best games. GT4,the one regularly voted as the best, is 4x longer to do the "main story".

How is GT7 having less to do at launch than GT1 excusable? That was made on a shoestring budget by a tiny amount of people for the PS1.

GTs was not advertised as a single player experience aka back to roots, roots in this case would be GT1 and as of now its a complete failure in my book
Heck they could've just copy pasta GT1 or 2 or 3 or 4, take your pick, with tracks and races, even menu's, added some new cars, visuals and people would adore it, problem is they just went and effed it up, with always online and lackluster of content

1. You didn't answer my question. What website? How are they calculating the "extras" completed time, or any of the times for that matter?
2. There is no way possible that that definition of "completionist" applies equally for every game in the series. 662 hours for GT5 to gold everything? No way.
3. You still didn't answer what counted as "main story" for games other than GT7.
More than half? No, there are 8 events not part of the cafes.
Even if you don't count each of the indivudal parts of Missions, Licenses, and Circuit Experiences separately, there are still more events outside of the Cafe Menu Books than there are within in (if you do, there definitely are). I'm counting:

-Dedicated race events
-Championships
-Missions
-License Tests
-Circuit Experiences

Endurance races, added season races etc, why not?
idk man i checked my old account with the platinum trophy and between first trophy and plat was 50 days real time, i was def not playing 12 hours a day, guess it depends on how much of a certified gamer you are

Personally I never played gt5 or 6 because of added ps2 cars and cars in general sounding like poo, totally put me off, so again taking stats from internet, I might have tried gt5 on a friend's console but it didn't clicked, so I didn't bother
I think I played FM3 and 4 later on at the time
