How many actual owners and players of game?

There have been a few threads about how GT Sport has taken top spot in game sales in various markets. How many actual copies does that represent?
How come PSNProfiles says there are only 7930 game owners and 4533 recent players? I can see players from all over the world, not just North America, so that does seem to be global (not just regional).

Side note: I only recently stumbled upon PSNProfiles and love having a site that tracks all my trophies automatically.

I believe psnprofiles will only record what games people have if they (or someone else) actually go there and sync their PSN ID. So it won't represent most people.

Wouldn't private trophies still be synced with PSN though?, I assumed they were only private to people you don't know for instance on trophy comparison on the PS.

Synced with PSN, yes. But not with PSNProfiles. PSN and PSNProfiles are not affiliated each other. PSNProfiles is not owned by PSN/Sony.

I know this I use the site myself, But my thought is surely to get statistics like rarity and such PSNProfiles would need to use the data stored on Sony servers right?

Maybe that's download versions only? The PSN is very good at telling me I own a game I've bought from the online store but it doesn't seen to know anything about the games I've got on Blu-ray even when I've received trophies for them and synchronised them.

Yes PSNProfiles uses data from Sony servers.

Thinking about it, now I am having other question: if a trophy flagged as hidden/games marked as a hidden game, is 1) PSNProfiles follow suit? (hidden on psn = hidden on psnprofiles, thus the trophy would not get into statistic) or 2) PSNProfiles will just show them on their website and count into public statistic regardless psn account settings?

If 2, that would be categorized as privacy breach...even they provide an option to delete profile. Because the profile is scraped by default.

At this point I doubt PSNProfiles is fully crawling all psn users trophies. Only the synced one, and the ID which someone put into PSNprofiles.website.

And oh could you test set your psn trophies into private? Is PSNProfiles still able to crawl them?
