How many attempts are you guys going to make in the early rounds?

Just curious, I'm wondering how much faster the leader boards are going to get. The leaf was...interesting but I don't have much desire to try to go faster there. The second round was pretty fun. It usually takes me a LOT of attempts to get close to the fast guys.

If I end up getting close to Tha_Ghoast and Let_Canada_In :)on these early rounds I guess I'll be doing ok.

I'll more than likely get sucked in to trying to gain a few hundreths banging away on the retry button. :scared:

Since they don't count for anything other than bragging rights, I spent a couple hours doing all the challenges last night and probably won't go back in until we get the next set.

Same here, I was bored earlier today so I just went at it again on the Rome challenge till I got a few tenths, but I really doubt I'll keep on doing it over and over. Eventually I'll get bored of it and not look at it again...

Yeah, I can see that. I guess part of the difference there is I know I need to get faster. I guess as long as some people are making the leader boards extremely fast that will be a decent measuring stick.

When the events get longer, like a whole lap, that will be a bit more fun and a better understanding of where you stand.

Took one shot to get the gold on most of them, I'm not sure if I'm interested in really grinding to get my times down into the top 100. I'm too fat to be a pro-racer, anyways... I just want the in game rewards! :P

Yeah at this point I'm only in it for the free stuff anyway. :(

I only want to work on certain ones. 2-5 is driving me insane. I spent about 30 min or more just trying to get that first right hander correct. Now I gotta work on passing the red car at the bottom of the hill. It's fun for me because when I was playing GT5 with my G27 it was casual play. Now I'm learning how to drag the brakes and really take corners just seeing other replays. Makes it so much more fun!

Until I'm #1 in friend rankings - if someone beats any of my times, I go back and get a faster one :)

Same here... honestly with the amount of players joining at the moment I can see the top top 500 being split by a tenth. Crazy, it will much more fun later when challenges are much longer and hopefully CHEAT PROOF.

aside from staying ahead of my friends in rankings i'm done until the next round, i'm anywhere from 300th to 1600th throughout

Good Luck to you R1600 on another year of GT-academy!

I'll probably do them until I get into the leaderboards (top 250) for each, then try to get better from there. It's a great learning experience for me. :)

I've just spent 2 hours on round 1-1 lol, I kinda like it trying to get the exact degree of turn while also trying to hit the guttering on the inside of the kerb. Down to a .378 don't think I'll spend to much longer on it though lol, want to at least be top 100 on all leaderboards, where the more skillful ones I'm aiming for top 10/25.

Once the PS3 shows up I'll probably hotlap the crap out of them just to get adjusted to GT5 and make sure I'm fully accustomed to the physics for round 8. I'm sure there will be plenty of tweaking to do with wheel settings too, might need to take out my home made nixim brake pedal mod and who knows what else. So I figure I'll just run laps until my eyes explode when time permits to make sure I'm not leaving any time out there.

Initially, I was just gonna get the gold and move to the next. One and done. Finish and forget.

But then it was actually fun.

I might be crucified for this, but I miss how difficult the license tests were in previous games. 2, 3, 4.. I dreaded the tests. 5 seemed too easy. I haven't golded everything yet, but even bronze seemed too easy.

I had fun with these, so now there's no telling how many times I'll do them. I'm not going to be fanatical about times, as I think winning would actually be the worst case scenario, but I'll likely do them again out of sheer enjoyment.

GT-One at Monaco. Don't think I ever golded that one.

My goal is to keep myself in the top 250 for the Nurburgring challenge as long as it's open (Which will probably warrant about 1,000 retries).

i find that trying to stay improving against everybody's time has really helped me.
the only test i really bother with at the moment is 2-5

I gold them all on the first night, then 30-60 mins depending on the challenge, and where there is a little competition like 2-4 I may give that a little longer :)!

I spent 2 hours in round 1-1 to be on 7th in leaderboards. Figured out that everything is possible, just time is required. Spent 20-30 mins on rest of events no bothering where I am in leaderboards. I save my power for last qualifying round where I will push myself to the limit. And I am practicing for the moment with GT-R and 370Z. My current target is to make Nordschleife in GT-R at 7.24'.000 ( Arcade - Time trial - GT-R - racing hard tires), this is where you have to be ice cold during all lap. My current is 7.24'.500

I dont it on my second try in 7:19.263 with the gtr 07 on arcade mode, try using this set up it helps a lot:

Traction Control: 1
Skid Recovery Force: On
Active Steering: Mild
Active Stability Management (ASM): Off
ABS: 1

Man, I hope you're joking. As close as you came last year, you're one of us that has a legitimate shot at this. 👍

Finally got to try these last night! I couldn't be bothered to keep trying the Leaf tests. For Round 2, I kept going until I was first on my friends list. :sly:
2-1 is kind of boring so I probably won't retry that one. If I have some free time, I'll probably keep trying the rest of Round 2 tests a few times because I know there is so much time left on the tracks.
