whats a good car for drifting on suzuka? f40 is too back AND front happy.

I was in D1GT in a yellow F430 with N3's BELOW stock at around 550pp. The car is pretty stable and drifts quite nicely and it's fast

controller drifting....BLASPHEMY!!!

J/k. I am a G25 user, a few weeks ago i was just messing around and trying to drift with the DS3. Last time i did it i was EASILY able to blast through the Suzuka East S-turns sideways no problem. Very easy to correct with the controller. But on this occassion i kept spinning out i could NOT hold a drift. It seemed with the controller the counter-steer was a LOT slower and i wasn't able to hold as much angle etc. Not sure if the last update changed the controller physics or feel. But it was before the last update that i was ripping on the DS3.

Didn't mean to go too off topic. Drift on either with a controller or wheel we all have the same interest/passion. :)👍

yes but with a controller you can never tell the angle of how much the wheel is turned, but at least its not like live for speed on the pc because when you use a keyboard it is absolutely useless.

Really, usually its faster counter-steering with a controller because there is less distance to travel for opposite lock than with a wheel.

Yes i agree, which is why i was trying to see if the current update changed the steering physics. I could not counter-steer for the life of me with the controller. I use the Analog stick, dont know why anyone would use the d-pad, but it would just counter steer SLOOOOW. Like i could see myself holding it and the wheels slowly turning.

Ex. Hold the analog stick all the way left, and i could SEE the wheels taking their time to catch up to full steering Lock. I gave up plugged my G25 in and was smiling again .

I am not rich, but i Do work 40hrs a week. To me this game is only at 75-80% without a 900* wheel. ESPECIALLY for drifting. I am a hardcore drift fan and car enthusiast, and when i can i attempt to Drift in real life. Games like Gt5p and Live For Speed are my fix for when i can't afford to be drifting my real car. :)👍 I also checked the steering angle, which i always set at 50 for drifting and it was correct.

[edit]-maybe my controller was malfunctioning. As i mentioned i drifted a while back with the DS3 and it was very easy to counter-steer. Just tapping it in the direction of the counter-steer. It was able to fly through those S-turns on Suzuka. I will try again tonight for the fun of it and post back my results!

funny you should say that because a dfp is arriving on my doorstep within the next two days!

and about the g25 expensive-ness, its expensive for what it is, forget the features, its a playstation wheel that costs £165, simple!

It's a playstation and PC/Computer wheel. It actually works a LOT better with Live for Speed than it does for GT5p. Live for speed clutch and force-feedback are a lot better, but that is because the game is designed to utilize the G25 potential better. :)👍

Hopefully full GT5 will extract the potential of the G25. It's a fine wheel, and it's FAR from the most expensive. But for a hardcore sim/race enthusiast there's no other way to go (for the cost). :sly:

It's not the controller malfunctioning. For the fun of it, I also tried drifting with the controller a couple months ago, and the countersteering felt incredibly slow! It was just painful to drift with. Wasn't hard at all after you take a good 10 minutes of getting used to it, but man did it feel slow.

I use a controller for gt5p, and was able to get 7th on eiger course drift with a rx7 that was before the first patch that came out.

you're right, i tried it again...and MAN was it horrible (for me anyways) I could not do decent drifts with the controller. I was coming up short on most of my drifts. Not under-steering, but over-steering too much, the back would swing around and the counter-steer couldn't compensate to drift to the outside of the turns, kept aiming/heading towards the inside. Very annoying. Plugged my g25 back in and MAN was i tearing it up. Funny how now i can only drift with the wheel...and not with the DS3 :indiff:

-Robert.

Im used to the Pad I guess...

Havent drifted much as I got MCLA lol (also some CoD5 to kill)

Turning reaction on the pad is very slow compared to my friends DFP. I really need a wheel, but Im playing cheap

hey watever it is i am in. can we decide on it?

I don't know if you noticed, but I meant, I only do Pro physics. I'm good on them but the moment I go into Std, I suck worse than my 5 year old bro. lol

i got about 15+k ranked like 30 something. it is 230 am i am tired and lazy will give it another go 2morrow when i get some time :D

I will add my 2 cents. I play with a DFP all the time. Not the greatest at it but I'm pretty damn good I think. Well last night it was getting late and the wheel was making a bit to much noise. So I decided to use the DS3. What a piece of cake it is to drift with the controller. My lines were all a little off, but it was so easy.

The controller allows for a lot faster countersteer, so you can pull off huge angle drifts!

For those of you who say you can't drift with a controller, I'm not sure you fully grasp the concept of drifting. Drifting is all the same no matter how you do it.

The controller's countersteer is awfully slow compared to the wheel. Either your not used to the wheel, or your playing an old version of gt5:P...

Yo, when are we we doing this competition?? I really don't know how this is being organized... I wanna show some skills! lol

Yo yo Rofajale long time no drift, cant wait for another world event so we can tear it up on drift chat, good luck in the comp
