How much money have you spent on GT5P

I was just wondering roughly how much real money ($ £ etc) you have spent on hardware etc to getting the current set up you are playing GT5P on.

Ok here goes I spent £300 on the PS3 system itself, £20 for the copy of GT5P (PAL), had to shell out another £600 on a 40" Full HD television to get the best out of it. Another £60 on a steering wheel, I haven't got any gaming seats etc as I don't take the game that seriously.

So all in all £980 to play GT5P quite a sum of money me thinks :dunce: :yuck:.

I would be interested how much the rest of you guys spent on your setups (in total), and would be interested in some pics if you want of your setups.

👍

Too much:indiff:

Philips 42" $1050
PS3 $550
G25 $270

I never thought that I would need an HDTV, but the visuals of GT are just spectacular. The wheel was more of a luxury purchase as I already had a DFP, but I'm glad that I had made the switch.

Pioneer plasma 2100£
Surround sound about 500£ (amplifier + speakers) + good headphones 90£ (for late night racing)
PS3 400£ (bought before price reduction)
G25 steering wheel 150£
Copy of Japanese GT5P about 30£ (december 2007)
Copy of European GT5P about 20£

Total 3290£ :nervous: (don't tell my missus :sly:)

although the amp and tv were not solely for GT5p ( I keep trying to tell myself !)

PS3 - $520
G25 - $300
32" LCD TV - $700
GT5P - $40

The TV is an old SD TV, and the structure to hold wheel was made at Dad's work. PS3 bought off Ebay with 4 games and 2 controllers.:D

All the money is in AUD by the way.

$30.00 on HDMI cable
$60.00 on a new computer table
$40.00 on Gran Turismo 5 Prologue, NTSC
$80.00 on new 160gb hard drive to replace the 20gb hard drive in the PS3

Total $810

Already had a office type seat, small audio system, and a DFP witch i was upgraded to a DFGT for free(present)

PS3: €500 (2 games, 2 controllers, 60 GB)
GT5P: €45
G25: €220
22' Full HD monitor: €220
Hand-built stand: €50
Seat: €60

Total €1095

ouch, when you put it that way ;)

has everyone who put the TV as an expense on their list honestly bought it with GT being what it's for?

Yes. I got the PS3 and game and tried playing it on my old Panasonic box, no fun. So a TV was bought 2 days later. I don't watch much TV, maybe 2 hours a week.

PS3 60GB- 500 euros
LCD TV- 37" Sharp Aquous- 1200 euros
Playseat Le Mans Classic- 2nd hand off internet 150 euros
DFP- 150 euros new... before the DFGT came out... :(
HDMI cable - 25 euros
PAL copy of GT5:P- 40 euros on release

So in total 2.065 euros... Hmmm and soon add another 250 euros to it because after work today im going to get a G25 :) WOOOHOOO Finally!!!

Well I needed a new TV so I was just looking for an excuse to spend some hard earned dollars on one :sly:, so....yes the TV was part of the master plan, I bought the PS3 specifically in preparation for the GT5P game.

top of my head i think probably over £4000 but i needed a new tv anyway.

edit. also neded a new surround system as i told my wife.

Good news :dopey: When I went from my old DFP to a G25, I was stunned by the quality of the wheel (especially the pedals).

Yup I bought the TV and PS3 solely for GT... but I didnt know Id have to WAIT THIS LONG.....:crazy:

I cant wait... I'll probably let everyone know how cool it is anyway on some thread somewhere lol :)

The following list illustrates why I am so frustrated with PD for
taking so long to release GT5 :grumpy:

I bought all of this stuff with the intention of using it to play GT5P (and to a lesser extent, games like Grand Theft Auto and F1CE) I even put off buying a PS3 until after GT5P was released last Spring, thinking that GT5 was coming close behind, and would have already been released by last Christmas or maybe this spring :dopey:

40GB PS3 = $399
Upgrade to 320GB hard drive = $109
HDMI cable = $30
26" VIZIO HDTV (720p) = $440
G25 racing wheel = $250
DFGT racing wheel (yeah, I got another wheel after I got the G25 :guilty:)= $98 (what I paid after trading in a few games at GameStop)
Wheelstand Pro = $179
PAL Edition of GT5P = $38 off eBay
NTSC Edition of GT5P = $39

All this stuff adds up to $1582 :ouch:

I guess I justify this kind of expense by looking at it this way: I get at least two or three hours of enjoyment out of GT5P everyday. I don't really take vacations, spend a lot on clothes, or kids. So I think that in the long run the money will have been well-spent...at least that's what I tell myself  :ill:
