After running 19 levels of B-Spec I decided that I valued my time more than babysitting Bob - but I still wanted him to level up enough to get me the X2010.

I put together some code to use on a USB-device that emulates the PS3 controller.

Using this I now have my B-SPec driver running automatically with oil changes between every X number of race to not ruin the car. After experiencing hanged PS3 after a few hours of constant grinding I added the function to save the progress after each race and now it is very stable.

After inquiries from quite a few people on getting one of these devices I have come up with an idea of options.

Base package with the device with base code installed that will run races and save in between.

Premium code package and a software to re-flash your device depending on which race in which series you want to run. You will be able to specify which race you want to run and an oil change performed after every 5 races. I need to adapt the code to each event so this is some extra work.

A member of this forum suggested $15 for the code. Since the cost of hardware in low volumes would make it total up to still kind of high I was thinking of selling the base code and card for $35 and charge $5 extra for each event you want automated with scheduled oil changes.

Here is a link to the previous thread.

This is a youtube video showing it run.

Thank you for your contribution.

BTW, this device should work on pirated copies of the game as well. In case YOU were wondering.

I would hate to derail the discussion but what does that supposed to mean?

Drawing any sort of connection with open-source and piracy is misguided.

Asking for a price you deem to be fair for your work is perfectly within your rights but you can't just assume someone support copyright infringement just because they suggested releasing something on an open source license.

Again,
Not looking for an argument but I think the point needed to be made.

Yeah, I should have put a smiley after that sentence. ;)

I am involved in Open Source in different ways and there is a lot of money in that world when it comes to providing services that will save the clients time and money.

Running my device will save you time and money (electric bill). ;)

Personally I might have been very interested in such a service, if I was not looking for the completion of Nur.24hr this morning and be done with B-Spec.

Hold on a minute,

I can use this to repeat a very short race over and over to fill up my bob's career bar and get the 'air of experience' trophy, right?

Now I am much more curious. ;)

It's cool that you came up with this idea. It's fine with me (like you need my permission or anything, right?) if you want to make a few bucks on it. Go ahead and assemble the hardware as-is and sell it to people, I'm sure they'll buy it. I'm just saying that it might benefit the community more if you also share it open-source. Let people build their own if they want, let them tinker with it and make it even better. Everybody wins this way.

I see your point, but still, there are plenty of people who have built their own B-Spec auto grind devices. This should be a testament to that anyone can do it. They are all different, and so is mine. They all cost money to replicate, or you will have to use stuff you already have to replicate them.

Being an IT-guy without a day job I have the time to do these kind of things. And when posting in the off topic section on a forum where I have been registered since 2001 (not video game related) the first response was "Group buy!"

I am just a guy struck by the economy trying to use what I can to put food on the table.

If I had a job to go to I would have time to make this device. So my take on it is that everyone that buys me one of these devices is giving me a lunch. And as we all know there is no free lunch.. ;)

WWel, how useful this device wil be after 1.06 i wonder. If GT Anywhere is good and works on mobile devices i would rather use "anywhere". As its more of a chalange=)

Anywhere will be interesting, but I still like the idea of being able to start b-spec and not have to do anything with it.

Having used it frequently now I've actually gotten a bit more relaxed since I don't have "just have a look" at how it is going. I'll run B-Spec whenever I don't feel like driving myself simp0ly to be able to buy and mod every car I feel like trying out.

Since when did this forum become a "I’ll help you if you pay for it" place to find answer or get help? I hope I don't get a bill in the mail if I ask for help.

Other forums and this forum offer free help all day long and as soon as something material is added, money becomes a part of the equation. If there is no cost to you to tell someone (that CAN understand) how this is made, then why not do so instead of charging for it? It’s wrong in my opinion. I wouldn’t charge someone if they asked me how many matte paints there are in the game or what’s the best car to use for the American Championships etc. I don’t see Famine asking for payment for the countless amount of hours he has put into the GT5 Used Car Database thread.

Good luck with the business venture.

B-Spec grinding is already ridiculously easy. You want to pay to make it even more easy? :ouch:

Yes, I want to start Bob off and let him take care of B-Spec while I am not playing myself.

Just spent 5 million on cars in the game from today and transfered a GTP to a tester of the device to give him a proper tool to use. :)

As someone on another forum put it, the perfect babysitter for Bob while you take your wife out of town for a romantic weekend. :)

Get an X1, it has a fan, and you can drive it pretty much without an oil change. 👍

Getting the X1 was the main purpose of auto grinding throught B-Spec. With my solution it takes no effort and as I tried normal grinding I ran into hanging the PS3 when letting it run for long periods. Hence the auto save between races.

There is no race where a X2010 with no oil change will lose because of the old oil...

I don't know whether to reject you for your B-Spec obsession or for the reason that you don't seem to be able to call the X2010 by its proper name. The lengths people will go to in order to avoid any sort of continued "effort" absolutely amazes me.

Feel free to reject me, for any reason. Sorry that I offended you.

The ps3 has to be on anyway. So I think when anywhere drops then that's pretty much that.

As everyone will have a usb stick to do car duping or other reason, why cant you just sell the code as donation based and have a minimum of say $3 per file?. That way you get repeat trade at a low outlay cost to the customer.

It is not a standard USB stick, otherwise that would be a good idea. :)
