How often do you watch your GT2 replay? I'd say 75% of the time I'll watch them, mostly if I win...but sometimes I'll watch if I lose (if the race had some interesting moments like a 4-car pileup or something).

I watch my replays sometimes, most of the replays I watch are the ones
of me beating bigger cars with my Subaru 360:D.

Rarely. I really don't need to watch myself blowing some license test for the 400th time straight because I made the same stupid mistake yet again. I'll watch only if there's something cool to see; a dramatic pass, the AI doing 360's in midair, ME doing 360's in midair, etc.

In GT1, though, I'd run a race with the Mazda Demio on Autumn Ring Mini then laugh at the replay, watching the Demio cornering on the doorhandles.

Not as much as I use to, I put 92 Edited replays on a DVD for extreme pleasure, 99% of them end with a Violent crash at the finish line;---)

That's a good point, Bob....I never sit there and watch replay after replay of me blowing license tests.

...till I gain that gold! That's a good thing to have btw, gold license replays can be valuable later on.

If it was a remarkable run, I'll sit back and watch. Sometimes I just like seeing the cars hooting along as well, especially if they're rare or spectacular ones.
Occasionally I'll do a free run just for the sake of getting the replay to save. I haven't done this for GT4, but I used to love doing it on GT3, especially with cars like the 787B, ZZII or GTOne race car.

I've been reviewing some replays in GT3 as a training tool. I toggle through the other cars and watch from their point of view. Where are they braking? What line are they using. What can I do to improve my lap times? It's especially useful to watch myself from the car behind me.

My favorite replay is one of the races in the Historic Car Cup.
I used a Skyline tuned as much as it would let me, and was winning throughout the entire race, until the last 2 turns of the race. A Lancia pulled by my side and was passing me at 3mph, so I rammed him as hard as I could and he (or it) beat me by 0.002 seconds.
That was the hardest race for me to beat, but I beat it with a Lotus Esprit.

KAMKA: That's what I love doing, too. :) toggling back into a car that's just behind me. If that car tries to ram me but I brake late with success, all the sudden, the AI car is at a huge disadvantage. From it's perspective, you see me leap ahead (actually, I'm just braking later because I've got the better corner path) and you see the Ai car struggle to avoid understeer!

uH: I've beat the Historic race at Rome in several cars up against the GT40. That rocks. One of the first times I won it was in a '71 Datsun 240Z. As I was racing, a friend walked into the room and was about to walk in front of the TV to do laundry and I got kinda mad cuz it messed up my concentration. That's one of the only races in GT2 that requires FULL concentration imo.

sometimes, if im driving my fav car,i always watch, or if a crash happens,i wana see what caused it if i didnt see first time around, but if im in a car i dont really like,i dont watch.

I know just what you mean. :) That happens at Laguna a lot, also in Grand Valley turn one....somebody will be behind and all the sudden you'll hear sssssssssshhhhh or CRASH!!! it's so tempting to use the back view to see what happened. That's caused me some losses in the past. I'll not be paying attention to my own driving! :ouch:

Only when there's something interesting. I watched my Europa once doing a 720 on the ground while scrambling for traction AND me countersteering. Of course this happened because I hit the wall at its top speed (170 mph)

I haven't actually freed up memory card space for replays for this game. :(

Oh you mean, watch the replay immediately after the race?

Usually only if I want to watch for some "special event". Like when I saw some car come flying by me and nearly land on me on the first part of the Trial Mountain course. Or if I want to observe the AI's progress.

Yeah, either/or...

How many people watch their replay or at least save it and watch it later?? That's the question I guess. The replay is such an integral part of GT.

....So far, nobody is trying to impress their girlfriend with stellar virtual driving skills...

It would be unlikely an iPod would have a "replay viewer" which allowed you to change the cameras and views, and car being followed.

It ought to be possible to use a video capture device of some sort to record one playing of a replay to be replayed on an iPod. Or recording onto a DVD might allow you to convert it to something useable on the iPod. But "they" do create stumbling blocks to make that more difficult than it would otherwise be.

It's funny how it works out.

GT1? I watched almost all my early replays! I was so fascinated with them. So many variables coming together at once, how did they program them all to make sense??

GT2 & GT3> not quite as often. I always save the best ones, tho. If I watch a replay from either one of these games, it's a sure bet it's one of my best and there'll be some drama.

GT4: because of Photomode, I'm now in the habit of saving & watching replays I wouldn't ordinarily save or watch...just to get that cool photo. Like if a lose a race badly yet there's a cool photo-op (like a slide or a crash) I'll save/watch the replay just for that moment!:dunce:

Can you actually do that for a race?

My favorite replay is of me winning the Muscle Car race at Laguna Seca with a Stock Plymouth GTX. It took me about 20- 30 tries and so it was precious when it actually happened. I felt like the GTX was the most difficult Muscle Car to win with completely stock in every way.

I save mostly best times, crazy crashes and challenges from my father once I have conquered them to show him. I would save some for you guys if I had a way to get them uploaded easily. I want to get one of these PC versions of the game soon.
