What's going on fellow drag mates?

Alot of you may wonder how the "Pro" drag racers are so fast at INDY (or any other drag track you may race at), well alot of it is their wickid tunes on their sweet machines. Another reason is because of the good 'ol E-Brake launch instead of the regular brakes. Some of you may say, "Well, I'm using the E-Brake (with a good tune) and I'm still getting blown off of the line!". Well, ever heard of changing your button layout so you can have the best reaction time that suits you? "Huh?, I didn't know you could change your button layout on Gran Turismo!"

Follow these 3 simple steps and find the best button layout for you!:

Step 1: Go to the 'Settings' button on the Main menu or in "GT Mode".

Step 2: Scroll down to 'Controller (1) or (2) button assignments'

Step 3: Choose the layout that best suits you!

Helpful tips: Remember!, make sure to set all of the buttons you absoloutely need for dragging! Example: Up-Shift, Down-Shift, Foward, Reverse, Horn(optional), Emergency brake(duh), Regular brake, Rear View, and ofcourse steering!.

I hope these tips helped you and please feel free to ask any questions in game or by replying to this thread.

Lol.. 'Smoked your acr' the first sign of a second account haha

So holding energy brake down rather than normal brake somehow makes you faster? Is this actually true and why is that possible?

It disengages the second you let off and the game detects any throttle

Guys, i'll tell you what happened. yes "Smoked-Your-Acr" is a 2nd account for me due to the fact that my first account "ELITE_GTO" got corrupted and I lost everything, I was shattered. So I made a new account and named it "Smoked-Your-Acr".

Hope that sums it up for all of you wondering who I am :)

The "E" stands for "Emergency" not "Energy"

And yes, as SlashFan stated, it does disengage as soon as it is realeased, making it a little faster than holding down the brake the whole way.

I can give you another little hint to make you a bit faster to "Tree" people off of the line a little quicker: Set your E-Brake to "L2" and barely hold it to where you don't see the E-Brake light indicator come on below your RPM range. You may have to practice doing this because there is very little room for error and you may jump off of the line a couple of times (i'm talking from experience) and people may get irritated.

Hope that tip helps aswell, and remember "Practice makes Perfect!" (only in a perfect world):):)

Yeah, releasing off the e-brake seems to work better, but dont confuse it with the e-cheat that people are talking about, thats something entirely different.

You could also use the analog stick, with the same technique

but keep in mind, this would have very little difference if at all. The only way to improve your reaction time is to practice.

A good way to practice is to, when youre waiting in line, launch with the people ahead of you

Honestly, I don't even know how to "E-Cheat", and I also think that if you have to cheat to win then you aren't much of a "Pro" dragger and you have no buisness even doing so. It makes it unfair to the people who put in the time and actually want to learn something from the game.

Yes, but I've experimented with the analog stick method and I find it that the "L2" button seems to work the best. Alot of dragsters I talk to also find the "L2" useful and a little bit faster than the analog stick. But it's not up to me to decide what buttons you use, I just want to throw some helpful tips out there and let you decide for yourself, thats all.:sly:

Yeah, Your only cheating yourself in doing so.

True, and plus when you actually find your own tune that you spent alot of time and patience on, it makes you feel good when you beat another good tuner (again I speak from experience):)

What? I thought using the e-brake is the e-cheat.

lol i changed my throttle to R2 and e brake L2 so treeing can be very fast :)

I have a feeling if I do what you did, I can tree even faster, because I tree relatively fast with the stock configuration (at least when I let my girlfriend drag for a bit with the Hydro boys, and she was almost the best tree'r, she tree'd way better than I did haha. She used the stock configuration too!).

The thing is I will have to get used to the new setup, because I've been dragging for 2+years with the stock configuration, so I'm relatively comfortable. But I'll have to try a new setup sometime. :)
