As for drifting, practice, practice, practice. If you have trouble getting the car sideways then make sure you have Professional physics set with no assists, N1 tyres will make the car much more willing also, then practice.
 
Well its true, drifting, anime, Japanese RPGs, hentai, ricer racers, etc. :P Most people these days are enchanted by Japanese culture and everything that comes out of the country.
So that would explain the ever day that they sell in vending machines. Or the full body anime character pillows that you can get. Ricing didn't come from Japan, its just people who are trying to copy JDM on a cheap level.

you have to be able to drive fast and know your racing lines etc etc before you can learn how to drift properly. you'll find that afew of the top GTP drifters have good times on the TT rankings

Correct, infact I personally find drifting trickier because missing turn in means not just a missed drift, but also spinning off track. While missing turn in in time trial means a slow turn unless you missed it by a lot.
