I am there however faster!

Therefore paid attention!

= =>> WITH THE GT$ VERSION IN DECEMBER ONE BECOMES ONLINE GAMES ABILITY! < < = =

Establishment: a Netwerkmodus which confirmed runs is over the ethernet-connection of the PS2. - The remainder is simple because however some seem to have here over the network-Inet technology to little premonition, erläuere I shortly.

Its PS2 sammt televisions have friend "A" and friend "B" and ethernet-expansion, in addition two RJ45 cables and one had (Switch) in a room. - Through the software of the ethernet-Adapters the PS2 is given a type house number. - The IP ADDRESS. I hold it once simply:

House number of the PS2 of friend "A" is 1 that of friend "B" must read differently, when 2nd - the network mode, will know function similar to some out of GT3 already the I-left mode.

Friend "A" opens a game on its house number 1. - Now the difference to ILink. Player "B" must say in its GT4 now, would seek existing game in house number 1.

And already funzt it. According to Sony with up to 6 players. - It goes Nu nen step further.

Friend "A" sits in Hamburg with its device shafts, friend "B" in Cologne. Both are connected with the PS2 to the internet. - The Hausnmmer of the devices beziht one now automatically of the provider. - One can find out this without problems themselves. (Importantly in each new Connect into the internet changes this house number).

The internet "the work of the Hubs receives then (the durchschläusen of the data packages of friend "A" to "B". - Therefore the house number of "A" is 126,214,96,112 - that of "B" lsieht only similarly from. If now "A" a game must open "B" again the house number of "A" input. And already funzt that. - How said with up to 6 people!

Why I am myself there so certain, although the messages today what say other.

1. The network transmission protocol is in the Netwerk and in the internet same. - Such simple Rennsessions, (the one quantity Fun make become) are for logical reasons already possible. - Only the latency (Pings) are higher than in the LAN.

2nd Sony says no MODE Online!! And under mode, vertehe certainly not only I, but rather also the Jungenz of PD what other, larger, more organized, cheatfreies, more extensive.. To fasten - around it at my example: so that both Kumpels Online against each other zocken can, they need either also another PC or a telephone in order to send itself messages, stretch to adjust round number and other simple rules. - These special are NOT in GT4 inside.

Therefore I wish all, that have go confused Online MODE, and simple animosity, to race much joke in the INet- also already in December against each other.

sorry but it a free translation ... so ply forgive me for that....

I want to ask once whether we start now a GT4 league.

Which name? who receives the work?

one can register here and say also its internet speed to find the good Hoster
maybe = GTPLANETi(i)GT4 LEAGUE ( i = international )

Then one can register and race together over nordschleife and co.

Therefore would hope for your approval....

So we can SONY pay back for this ......

It should work. xbconnect worked for Xbox. It lets you play games like Halo and Project Gothem over the internet as a System Link game.

GT3 has a LAN option? i thought it only had ilink. the stuff above is abit hard for me to understand.
In GT3 the I-link system was used. It has no access to anything internet related. Nor would the Network Adapter reconise the I-link port as a way to let information go through the internet.

BUT in GT4 the Network adaper is used for a LAN party, this gives it the capability of using the back door in the system to allow people to play online through the lan party mode even if your in California and the other guy is in New York. Its complicated to explain.

THOUGH, if Kaz's explaination is correct then people may experiance the problems PD was having with the online part. What problems there are I have no clue since I dont know anything about network coding. My guess is that it comes down to latency and lag.

Civicbus
not trying to be an ass, I actually don't know but:
isn't latency the same as lag? I always thought it was...
I have no clue, the way its been explained to me is that latency is the time it takes for data to go from you to the server and back and lag was connection interuptions.

well it looks that the guys how told me about LAN in GT3 was a lie...

sry for that inform.. folks but if gt4 will have a LAN option, so why we dont start with a ONLINE
league..? its sound sgreat for me , to join your "servers" and play against you..
but we need , i think now , some idea some faqs , to prevent that noobs like me ,
dont miss the opportunity to start and participate this conversation..

So i can say that i will not have the time even the experience to make something
like this one ..... im very interested to battle against you :) :) :) as a part of this Community..

i hope we will start so as possible, because Sony said it will launch the "new" ps2 with some Game bundles ( gt4 inc. ) form 1 Nov.. so i think the game will come out earlier .

so what are your opinions about a GT4 online league ? GTPLANET(i)GT4 LEAGUE i think it sounds good or not ?? some ideas ??

cu

PS : somebody plays RaceDriver2 on PC or Ps2 ??

GrF.:satan-san:

Just because GT4 will have LAN networking doesn't mean that it will work and be usable. Until we know for sure how well tunneling software works, don't get too excited.

It might work, it might not. There are no guarranties.

Cheers,

MasterGT

Actually, tunneling the firewire (Ilink) signal was looked into (for GT3) for a while but it turned out that WINPCAP, the application Xlink uses to capture the data that it receives, cant capture data from a pc firewireport (something along those lines)

Lan (ethernet) works fine tho, and i'd suggest you guys try it out with another lan game, so that you can get your setups right by the time GT4 releases

All you need is either a second ethernet card and a crossover cable,
or a router and an ethernet cable

heres a list of games that have been confirmed having lan:

http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/?go=games

ATV Offroad Fury 2
Midnight Club 2
SOCOM II: US Navy Seals
Star Wars : Battlefront
TimeSplitters 2
Tony Hawk's Underground
Twisted Metal Black Online

all of these work fine on kai (there might be more that we're not aware of)

As you can see there arent that many games out yet that support lan. Thats because the earlier ps2 games all had Ilink.
New PS2 models dont have the firewire port anymore tho, so Sony has relaced the Ilink option by the lan option in newer games.

Wow, I still can't believe this, utterly rediculous. The online play was THE REASON I was looking forward so much to the release of GT4. So rediculous. Anyway we will need to figure out the LAN configuration, or at least a similar program to XBConnect, I know there is one already out there, just can't seem to find it. But just to show my appreciation for Polyphony Digital for removing the internet capabilties of GT4, I will be purchasing a brand new non-Sony Dual Layered DVD burner! I am NOT buying two versions of their game, one with and without online support that's rediculous. Come to think of it that XBOX keeps looking better and better, good job PD and Sony for turning off a portion of your clientele. PWN3D!!!!

So, in effort to only spend an unknown ammount of money on GT4 online/offline your going to spend a few hundred dollars on a dual layer dvd burner so that you can burn a copy of GT4 online which its price is unset and unknow at the moment.
Not only that but you pretty much spell it out that you intend to illegally copy the game in a public forum.

Who know's it may be 50 dollars for each, may be 25 dollars for each. It may be 40 dollars for offline and 10 for online. Heck theres even a possiblity that PD will do the right thing and make the offline version 50 dollars and send the online version out to everyone who purchased GT4 offline at no cost to the buyer.

ok people

Please Do not to lose the overview. Everyone is disappointed, what concerns Online GT4. There its probably a PARTS 2 in March 2005 (geneves CAR SHOW), and will be it SONY last large possibility, what concerns ONLINE to fight the ONLINE BATTLE WITH XBOX (however not too win). Since more than 10 PS1 years and a couple of PS2 years, SONY had to accept for the first time a defeat.

So therefore once again to the THREAD: NO announcement of ILEGALY DVD rip or CD here 👎

Once again 2 all: here only is written , if we (the Community) can count on you, when GT4 ONLINE goes off (first with LAN---> for that need YOU a PC + software).

THEREFORE start with team development and writes how a championship must be or look , and your mindmaps/ideas here . ( which streets, which catergories; I am for categories A + B + C (C is the worst) and, the first 5 or 10 of a deep group (B + C) goes up or down to a higher or lower level .

so start your engines :) :)

Do "preparations" include making a Macintosh client available when GT4 comes out?
yeah, a mac version is under development, tho as with most free software, it hasnt realy got a deadline for when its supposed to be done.

Actually a dual layered dvd burner is only 65 dollars. Check it! www.newegg.com

Of course it would only be a backup for archival purposes.

How many times has Sony given there customers a break? Remember when the hard drive was supposed to come out in 2002, and Socom was going to release new maps, have downloadable content, when Sony denied ever having an issue with laser adjustment but years later finally owned up to it, remember when PD promised to be able to do every thing possible offline, ONLINE, switching to a different ps2 model that doesn't support all of the EXTRA hardware we have already bought, (HDD multitap)etc. etc.

They are in it for the money plain and simple, and I have given them enough money already. HDD $100, Network adapter $40 Extra! Xbox already comes with this stuff! What a farce. As you can see this online thing has put me over the edge...I looked forward very much to the day I popped the GT4 disc in and logged online playing with TALENTED people rather than crummy ai. BAH!

@ Jim X

u are right about ONLINE BULL**** $ONY

but dont forget one thing :

dont put XBOX and PS2 on a same level ....

ONLINE is XBOX better of course ...

OFFLINE is PS2 the BEST THING ...( SUIKODEN , "all GTs",FF and so on etc..........................................................................................)

so we know here in SWISS , that the ONLINE "peep" , Support and HARDWARE like HD , woud fail.... so here in EUROPE u cant buy nothing about that crap , just the
"OFFLINE ADAPTOR" lol.

THE PLAN of SONY was , to enable us , the gamers --> oop mean consummers , too download CINEMA MOVIES and MAPs MUSIC and PICs to the HD,, so to much blablalbal , but its still SONY and not MICROSOSFT .

When XBOX ,was at the store, ok u had HD and ADAPTOR , BUT tell me and other non YBOY gamers, FOR WHAT ; FOR WHAT ; FOR WHAT ; FOR WHAT ; FOR WHAT ; FOR WHAT ; FOR WHAT ; FOR WHAT ; FOR WHAT ; FOR WHAT ; FOR WHAT ; FOR WHAT ; u had to wait 2 years to play the first GAME ONLINE or maybe 3 years , so
buy all together, all ONCE , to start play ONLINE then its ok. but what MACROHARD did , well the story u know ( 2-3 years waiting to play ONLINE ) .

so if u pay it once , all later , where is the problem ? AND PS2 ONLINE is FOR FREE
. and for FORZA u need to pay , to play just 10 drivers on a server (maybe a old PC with 15 or 20 GB , thats all ) so its not good ; for me .

cu all

Lag and latency are the same thing.

There is software to bridge a LAN connection over the internet. This can be done with GT4.

GT3 can only i.Link.

Don't get your panties in a wad. It's only a game.

LoudMusic
Don't get your panties in a wad. It's only a game.

It's only a game that probably will still be the best in the world, but would be in a league WAY BEYOND others if it had the online ability. The graphics are beautiful, the cars are awesome, the tracks and physics as realistic as you can hope for on a console and BEYOND THAT, but they lied to us about the ability to play online just like they lied to us about the release date. This game should have been out a year ago. The only reason I was willing to wait any more than that was for the ability to play online, now that is gone. What did they need this extra time for B-Spec Mode? CRAP! Photo mode? CRAP! More tracks? Good but not neccesary as they do have THE HARDDRIVE to add to the track list later, and the use of the HDD would also decrease loading times. New slimer PS2 with no HDD support? CRAP! They have screwed the pooch on this move and because of it, GT4 WILL BE A LESSER GAME.

LoudMusic
So you're not willing to wait anymore? If you buy the game I'm going to come to your house and hit you with a brick.

That's fine I won't be buying the game. Only the online version deserves my money for waiting this long.

LoudMusic
Good point. I'll rent it and copy it with HD Loader.

I would do the same thing, the only problem is HDLoader doesn't support DVD9 or dual layered DVD's which GT4 will more than likely be. I have an HDLoader also, so I have looked into it. One thing you can do though is rip the GT4 Original disc to you computer then reburn in DVD5, which then you can save on hdloader. Of course you would only be doing this as an archival backup of your original, right?
