How to serve your penalty instead of pittting?F1 2010-2016

Probably a stupid question, but I've looked everywhere on the internet. If anyone could shed some light on this, it'd be much appreciative. Just turned a good points-worthy race to a horrible massive mistake.

I don't think you can if I remember correctly, it's just another stupid bug to add to the pile.

I think it only applies if you have damaged the car though, I don't think it will pit you if you've only got worn tires.

Indeed, that's how it works on PC right now - it's been changed in a patch. No clue if that's been added on consoles tho. I don't think so.

You have 3 laps to serve a penalty. So therefore, serve the penalty on the third lap, the game should treat it as a penalty rather than a pit stop.
