Hi GTP'ers.
I recently began my first tunning project, an Audi R8 V10 RS. The idea was making it something like a street-legal track car, so the best tires I could use were Sports Soft (which are the ones used in all tuned cars of Mine's/HKS/HPA/The Lot) and the power upgrades couldn't be that savage, nor the weight saving program. So far, I'm happy with what I've done, since it matches most tuned cars in P.P and performance figures, but now two questions regarding tunning have popped into my mind, which I'll explain.
First of all, "How to tune?". I've got the Apex book which has been quite helpful with telling me how everything works in LSD/Transmission/Aerodynamics/Suspension/Brakes setups, but what the Apex book doesn't say, and what I'm intrigued to know, is if there's any tunning "method", or "steps" if you will. First, I set an objective in terms of the car's purpose, personality, and performance numbers. Second, I took it round a track and found what was wrong with it (It had bad understeer entering corners) and made some slight adjustments to it's fully customizable suspension. Now, after just one minor tweak (ride height), the car seems perfect to me, what should I do next?
And the second one, "Until what point?". My objective was to do a realistic tune of one of my favourite cars, which could be in the same tier as the HKS/HPA/Amuse cars in game. I didn't want to throw everything from the racing parts catalogue, stage 3 all the rest, and fit some soft slicks to it (Like most kids do online), I wanted something realistic, quite fun, and which suit my driving style like a custom made 600-HP glove. But is there a "I stop here" point in tunning? Is it the one I set? Wouldn't be exaggerated fitting a tunning special car, like the ones previously mencionated, with all the Drivetrain parts and a racing-spec transmission?
Granted, I need to know what to do next in my tunning program before knowing when to stop. But, until what extent can I go to get a car's maximum potential? I feel I can't call the Audi "My tune" yet because all I've done besides buying this and that part is tweaking the spoiler and the ride height, but until where can I go?
So far, I'm having a blast with my 605HP, 1440KG...partner. I'm really fond of the way it drives, looks, sounds, feel. In general, of it. I think this is the purpose of tunning. But now I ask you guys for help, should I go beyond this point? If so, until how and until where?
Thanks in advance!
