Alright, I just started GT4 over with NO transfers, and while configuring everything to my tastes I saw the screen display option, and gave it a shot along with shutting off the map display, and proceeded to go through licenses B-IA. Now IA-15 saw me off. Once. And then I proceeded to make my best-ever lap there in this test, by over 30 seconds. How? No distractions on screen, not even the little red next-corner gear indicator. All there is are the gauges, the rear-view, and the timer. When you clear a sector, it reports your sector time, placement, etc. and when a lap is finished, it displays lap time/number like this:

L30/60 1:35.864

I find it fun, ESPECIALLY on Nur.

I wish there was an option to turn off all of the on-screen displays including the speedo & tacho, but particularly the sector times (I hate the one that pops up just before the flugplatz jump on the 'ring).

I need my speedo and tach, but I don't need the rearview mirror. Shut that off and I am happy camper. I officially HATE the MOTUL PITWORK Z.

Manual trans=need tach. Speedo's good for checking corner speed on continuous corners (George V Paris, NY, etc.)

I disabled it long time ago either. Its pretty uless IMO as you are braking much later on most of the tracks and it only gives you more stress and you have no blipping gear signal in real life. It just doesn't allow you to progress with your driving skill l\just like Driving aids IMO. I also switched everything from the screen that is possible. Looks better

I also have my setup as Tach's - R.Mirror - & Timer

Mainly because i didn't need the rest, that and i see more of the course, less useless info, like your previous laptime when you should be worrying about the current one 💡

My TV screen changes the aspect ratio automatically half the time so i rarely need to worry about the HUD display!
