$17,150??!!! That's slightly lower than what my '04 EP3 when I bought it new. Amazing.
Weird how most of your cars are more expensive than they are in the US, but then you also get some cheaper.

But this car is a good value. I want to try and get one, but I'm going to wait for the newness to wear off so dealers will budge on the price a bit.

I had my EP3 when I was stateside. The Elantra SR Turbo here in Oz, is about $33kAUD.

It is without a doubt a massive value leader in a rather small segment. To get much of the same equipment, you've gotta step pretty high up on the Honda Civic chain, and you're still down 20+ BHP when comparing powertrains. The Nissan Sentra SR Turbo gets closer on power, but lacks a lot of the visual panache and quality the Hyundai seems to have. After that you've gotta look at cars like the GLI or Focus ST that are priced out of competition, but certainly pack a good bit more performance out of the box.

I'd be interested to know how much a lease would be on one, and how much they expect to depreciate over time.

Walked into a local Hyundai dealer to ask when they we're expecting these to arrive. First guy immediately said "are they making that?" Seriously people? This is why people hate car dealerships...

So I was in Phoenix today to get the oil changed in my Forte and stopped by the nearby Hyundai dealership afterwords. They had a single, white 6MT Elantra Sport sitting out front. I have to say, after seeing it in person and getting a feel for it, now I REALLY want one. Wasn't able to take it for a test drive unfortunately. I've got some money coming down the line shortly from something and I'm going to see if I can get into one when it arrives. Fingers crossed.

They're not bad i enjoy my Sonata

I've got an appointment on Saturday for a test drive. Nobody in town has the specific car I want (Blue, 6MT, Premium) so it may be a few weeks before I can purchase. Working on it though. :)

Alright, test drove an Elantra Sport tonight (Silver, 6MT, Premium) and really liked it. The suspension is firm but it still rides really nice. It's quieter than my Kia so no complaints there. The navigation screen is nice and crisp and easy to use. Seats are great, though there is no power option. Shifter is pretty good IMO, though I find the clutch pedal to be a little soft. That's really my only complaint with it besides the questionable front styling and the need for a little more color in the interior. (Black everywhere) I really want a blue one so I will wait until they get one in. I also need to wait for my down payment money to come around in the next few weeks, then I'll try to get into one for sure. They were willing to give me $2,750 in incentives and another $1,500 off for customer loyalty making it $20,824 which is a damn good deal for what you get.

Nearly $3000 in incentives already? It sounds like a fantastic car, I'm surprised Hyundai is already pushing them that hard.

I was pushing this dealership pretty hard, so it's more of their doing and not so much Hyundai themselves.

To the crank. Those numbers are to the wheels. After the tune it's probably around 260-270 at the crank.
That's very, very impressive. I might be in the market for a car like this by the end of the year. We'll see.

Hyundai i30 Fastback (aka Elantra GT, close enough) caught testing
