I am now clear that GT5 is the best racing game

About half a year ago I wanted to buy a racing game, simulator. And since I have only PS3 there were only 2 options GT5 and Need For Speed Shift 2. After many videos of comparisons and gameplays, I decided to go with GT5.

When i got it I was absolutely stunned, Game played beautifully, i have heard something about ''no cockpit cameras'' or something, and later finding that out, let's just say it wasn't such a nice surprise.

I continued to play it and turned out not so bad, and all the patches I experienced, amazing, I haven't experienced the feeling when i play a game and it gets better and better with patches. I felt so good that issues were fixed so quickly. :dopey:

So now i have bought Shift 2 Unleashed, immediately I noticed that graphics ain't so nice, but gameplay was great, but it felt strange, i couldn't handle the car, so it turned out that it has controller delay. It basically ruins the game completely, it's impossible to control car if steering reacts only with 0.4 second delay. And seeing all the nice cars Shift 2 got, it made me wonder, why a ****** game like that has so many nice cars.

And it would be so nice if PD would release a DLC with 40Premium super-cars, like Porsche cars, Zonda cars, Lamborghini.

So basically I have come to a conclusion that I love GT5 and GT5 loves me.
And all it needs is more cars.

"[You are] now clear that GT5 is the best racing game" for you. 👍

It's good that you think that, though. I still need a few other games to give me the cross-section I "need".

yesterday I read an IGN article which said forza4 was the best racing simulator ever made.
The sad part is that they haven't even tried one. Every console game will always be just a game, not a proper sim.

Input lag is worst thing in NFS or any other racing game, closely followed by 30 fps. (however Dirt 2 felt great even at 30fps)

Not by a long shot. GT1, 2 and 4 are definitely better, and GT3 beats it in some departments certainly. And none of the better ones are the best game ever either.

I didn't think anyone in the GT5 forum took anything seriously. I was only kidding.

'4 is the one for me but I spent years playing it thinking it'd be great to have cockpit view and damage.....

Good job you haven't seen the arguments in half the threads here then! And if there's a chance, this is gonna turn into another one. :indiff:

4 had tons of content, and so much to do, but it took time to do all that stuff and the physics compared to now are bad. AI's a bit odd too.

I don't business much around here. It seems to be 90% miserable, moaning folk with nothing good to do other than start arguing with each other.

Fun for the laughs sometimes though.

It'll only turn into an argument when the idiots who are unable to grasp what an "opinion" is turn up, and then fail to realise that there is no objective, quantifiable way to even go about determining which game really is the "best".

That's not to say there's no point in the discussion, though.

I agree. GT5 is the best racing game I have ever played this and I have played all them except the original shift.

Not entirely true, there is Ferrari Challenge, F1 2011 and the underrated Superstars V8 racing. There is also GRID which isn't a simulator but still a lot more fun than Shift.

Yes, but they are pretty low budget. I didn't even think about buying them.

I don't like how Forza 4 is made, It's made like a simulator, with various assists to make the game fun, but it stands there in the middle so it's not too fun and not too realistic, looks pretty good, but is too bright and other visual defects and sounds of cars are just too harassing. At first they seem nice, but after listening to them for a while my ears start to bleed.

Try sitting in a real race car and see how long it take your ears to 'bleed' :)

I knew that would come. Just think about how daft that statement is as a response in light of the actual meaning of the post it's a response to.
Granted, saying that a game's sound makes your ears bleed is equally daft, unless you're stupid enough to have it at such a volume as to actually induce said bleeding.

People just can't help themselves, I suppose.

There are more racing games than just shift 2.

Same for FM4.Played for a week.Racing is nice but it missing variety, detail and overall presentation. It's empty in it's idea. Just bunch of features. No education, almost no experience. Little fun - yeah, but...Also sounds not as nice as you may think. (clearly much distorted). Cockpit view is most artificial (unnatural, non-believable) I've seen...

Come on, everyone knows Forza is the best!

aaaaaaaand......go!

Actually I'm sure that can be said only:
1.Who doesn't not played GT5 or played with closed-mind (information can't get in because mind is blocked by controversial idea)
2.Who played GT5 but don't really understand what GT is all about. We can't read serious books when we were very young - it's all empty words for us. At this state any more appealing (fun) but stupid book give us all that we want. Same here.
3. (very rare) Who knows what GT and Forza is but choose FM because it's suited for him. But at this point you cannot say "better" you just say "i'm not against other games (play it and have fun if you like it), but this game is just for me".

Please tell me this post is all a joke?

I do agree with everything you wrote. Majority of younger kids turn to arcade-ish games, like NFS and Forza, whereas people at their late teens (like me) and above prefer the style of GT5. For example Im in the "My Home" page listening to Jazz/Lounge music right now. If I had a Xbox, I would buy Forza. I have PS3, so I got GT5. If I was on PC only, I'd be playing that.... iRacing or what its name is. I have experienced the physics on Shift games, and I agree with one of the posts saying that cars handle wrong. Plus the helmet camera isn't as convenient as you may think. Cars feel heavy and many times you cant control them -> ruins the fun. I create an online lobby for me and my friends to chill on GT5, we wouldnt be able to do it in Forza or Shift, im sure of that. I've seen gameplay vids, Forza gets kinda tiring after a while. Overall, im not saying that GT5 is the best racing sim ever made, simply because:
1) Previous GT games had features I miss
2) We wont see a real sim game only until 2020+++
:)

No.I took it serious (not too much) and I have a right to do it.

Also game can be somewhat judged by music. Tired of "other racing games" crap PR'ed music.

Thanks man! I just have to say by now - I have played all of them and more - I've enjoyed them much. But after a month "off" GT, I just turned it and WOW! Now I understand. And I'm happy. Surely I will don't play it every day but I know - it's a good and unique game and I want to be surrounded by only good things.
