All this time I figured drifting was an extreme action sport, but more and more I am being led to believe that its actually a slow, methodical, low risk motorsport..... (sarcasim).
Ok. Drifting (depending on the sanctioned body judging it) is judged on: line, angle, speed, and style for a add on. So can someone please explain to me how the common tire used is a freaking comfort hard? Since when did drifting on a round piece of plastic become popular? Hell, even r/c cars now have treaded rubber tires to drift now.
Its so annoying to hear "hey man, you're going too fast... you should change your tires". Or "it takes more skill to drift on comfort hards" oh, or my favorite... "my friend drive a 1million hp douche bag car and he says this feels exactly like it". Seriously? Hahah, what are you guys thinking? I wont devulge my credilentials, but trust ke when I say... drifting in its progessional, and grassroots form is based on GRIP. Countless hours go in to suspension geometry and setup... trying to obtain the best tires you can afford, and then figuring out how to put the power down properly.
Why are people brainwashed with comfort hard tires are the way to go?
I had a guy tell me in a room yesterday..."only thing you will do better than me is have speed I will have more angle, style and line than you will on your sport tires." He then proceeded to put on a terrible display of what could only be bettered by watching a baby giraffe be clobbed repeatedly in the head. It was so goofy looking I proceeded to dislike the guy. I entered the track on sport tires and tore him apart. My line, dead on, angle, far more.... and we wont even begin to bring speed into play.
Now my question is.... why is this going on? Are people trying to "simulate" arcade style driving on a "simulator"? Is this done to cover up the lack of car control, and so that the playing field can be leveled? Or am I just getting on during the wrong portions of the day?
Where are the real drivers that appreciate simulation to something similar to the feel of the real world counterparts?
Oh, and I will save this for later.... but what the hell is up with 14° negative camber on the rear of the car?
now in no way shape form of fashion do i feel like i am obligated to stay in these rooms... because obviously i have the free will to leave, which i do... but... these guys tend to come into my rooms and complain until i kick them out. yesterday i had a team tryout where as the stipulations for member hopefuls were to drive on sport tires of their choice... all of the sudden, epiphany... you could actually hear guys say, "ahh" as they started to figure out the level of grip, and abilities they were able to obtain with better tires on.
later i gave them setup suggestions that further allowed them to pull off fantastic drift realizm.
now i will end rant, and NO i dont feel like fixing all the grammatical errors, or punctuation, but i just wanted to air this out.
this is stupid.
end rant.
