I can't upload images! where is the upload thing?

Where can I find the upload thing within post replies to attach images in GTP6.......I really can't find it.....I must be blind!!.......can someone tell me where it is!

Just klikk on the "insert image" icon, a window will pop up, here you enter the URL/Path where the pic is at. For pics on your harddrive i suggest you open them in a browser and then you copy/paste the path shown

That wouldn't work. The path usually displayed refers to a file in a directory on the home computer. Unless you use your IP address, which I'm sure there are certain people who'd love to see it, no one would be able to see that picture except you (they'd all get little red X's). Also, even if you did use your IP address, they wouldn't be able to see the picture if your computer is turned off. It would work for generic stuff, like windows Icons and the like, because those are the same on most computers (at least if they run on NT-based stuff), however unless the thing you're posting is one of the standard windows or macintosh things that can be found in the same directory on every computer, that "copy the URL after opening in browser" method won't work...

You can, however, load the image onto a remote server that allows direct linking and link it with the [img]http://website.com/url/picname.jpg[/img] tags...

Whoa! I just found it. After you make your post hit the "edit" button. Then, in the additional options, there's a part for "Attach files." Hit the "Manage Attachments" button and you're set. But Jordan has stated that because he is still working on the attachment database thing (see next post) that we shouldn't attach files to this server.

I'm having lots of problems getting attachments to finish processing, so I'd appreciate it if you didn't use the workaround to attach more, and just wait until I can get this problem ironed out.

Thanks for the reply Jordan......I can understand that a new system can always have teething problems......I'l wait to attach images until you can get it sorted out. I just wanted to make sure that I wasn't going blind!

Just one quick question, I created a couple of threads with a load of pics from the NEC motorshow I took, when you've sorted this out will I need to upload thoes images again?

Did you upload them after GTP6 went online? If so, yes I'm afraid you'll have to upload them again. I thought I had attachments disabled but I didn't realise there was a way around it people were using...sorry.

It's not that big a problem, I don't have to resize all the pics again to make them under the upload limit.
