I don't enter races anymore

Yes, I am at 89% and it has gotten so boring that I haven't entered an actual race in months. These days I buy used cars, then I modify them somewhat and take them to Seattle to practice setups and lap times

lol, why Seattle??

Seattle is so fun! I think its very fun because of all the jumps and inclines and declines. It makes it very hard to set up a car that is fast for Seattle. If you set it up too hard, the car will bounce too much and you will spin out, too soft and it won't turn as well. Turno off all aids, and take a 680 HP Supra to Seattle and you will see what I mean.

Gotta love those jumps...reminds me of the big jumps in another city...San Fran I believe...now THAT would be a fun city track..more jumps and they'll test you're braking at the end.

Yep twice as many jumps would be a blast. Some cars take the jumps badly due to the weight balance. One that comes to mind is the BMW M3, its a nightmere on the jump section.

Well, maybe I just haven't yet found the "perfect" race. One where I'm not guaranteed to win, but with good, careful driving and maybe one or two small mistakes I still can.
It is not the race, but the car you choose to use, so instead of looking for "perfect" races, look for "perfect" cars that in your hands match the same race times as the best AI car in the field you select. If you do that, you will ALWAYS have "perfect" races (or at least evenly matched performance) no matter what event you enter.

The fact that the AI is just a frustrating extra obstacle that prevents me from driving well doesn't help.
This doesn't really make much sense as the AI drive consistently on the same line for each race and thus for that reason are very EASY to avoid. Certainly far more easier than human opponents who will be completely unpredictable, and against less skilled rivers are more likely to lose control and either push you off the road or spinout out in front of you and block the track... which I've personally had to deal with on far too many occasions in 6 Car LAN GT tournaments.

If this really is a problem for you, you may want to stick to just running practice sessions with no other cars (AI or human) on the tracks.

After previously playing the game two times, it gets repetitive doing the same races again. I just buy and tune cars, and do "track days", or just practices and photo mode.

I fell in love with the Deep Forest track through having to drive it so much in tourist trophy.

Now i do three things in the game only.

1. Hotlapping deep forest in any car, normally doing mini comparisons, today i spent a couple of hours comparing 2 seat roadsters (Z4, elise, s2000 etc).

2. Do a family cup at deep forest, set the ai to 10 and away you go. Im sure the ai is better in family cups than anywhere else.

3. Do a hotlap session on a bike in tourist trophy, then come back to GT4 and se how much i have to spend on a car to beat that time.

But yeah ive been at about 80% for the last few months.

Another funny story...

Your in second place about 4sec back from the leader and having a good even race, trying to catch the "rabbit". Then all of the sudden he spins out by himself. Then does it over and over at the same spot.:ouch: :grumpy:

Yeah I just came from the Le Sarthe race today and it really pissed me off. I was having a good race till the second turn on the second lap he goes wide and runs right in the gravel trap. I will try it one more time it's the Jaguar XJ that does it and he's really fast. It's really fun racing him with any car usually with under 400hp anything above 130aspec points should be good but 180aspec is even better.

Which Le Sarthe race are you referring to? I ask, as the Jaguar XJR-9 is hardly even close to being the best car available to the AI on that track.

In the 24hr endurance race on Le Sarthe II, the Jag posts the third worst time of ALL the possible AI cars, and after nearly 10,000 miles of testing that car with the AI it rarely ever ran off the track. Now the '69 GT40 is a different story. However, seeing as how it isn't a contender, the fact that the line and braking strategy of the AI is wrong for that car doesn't really impact the overall race.

There have been some scattered reports of those with bad copies of GT4 that have bizarre AI cars showing up in races they shouldn’t, and AI cars losing control regularly, as well as other game glitches.

In the European Events British GT Series Le Sarthe I
It's either the Jag or the Mclaren (rabbit). If you choose the right car to race it's really fun (160 aspec+) but then again the AI's may crash.

I setup my races so that I have to use the draft in order to catch up. If timed right I catch him either after the second chicane or right before the 1st Porsche Curve. After that I'm really good in the twisty stuff and usually find a way around them for the lead. So far Le Sarthe I is my #1 one Track for test and tune along with races.:) 👍

Try that race in a BMW M coupe but the goal is to beat the leader on the FIRST LAP.

Fully equip it I think, just make sure to have around 130-200aspec points. With the Mclaren or the JAg in 1st place at the start of the race.

Yeah try this,

Fully equip the M coupe and make sure the Mclaren or Jag are in the Line up in 1st place. Just make sure to have around 130+ aspec points and it's really tough and took me several tries I almost thought I couldn't win.

Then I must have a really bad copy cause in almost all the races and not much in the Touring or LM races. The AI's find some way to wreck and it's always the leader. He leads the first lap and on the second he's in the grass or gravel pit turned around by himself.

I also like to do comparisons between a few cars. I like to find cars that are same power and weight, and then mod them to a certain limit and see how they do. I did one between the Supra RZ and the Camaro Z28 yesturday, much fun!

eh, all of you should try to do formula GT with the Corevette race car. thats a challenge, and then you might actually get your AI fix.
