I know I know ... I claimed I would never purchase a Microsoft XBox ... but for $200 bucks the "Limited Edition XBox Package" is just too cool to pass up. I also grabbed an AirFlo controller and Halo.

Reviews to come.

Yeah, pretty much the only reason for me to own one. I absolutely abore the controllers (any I've used for XBox) and I really hate giving money to Microsoft ... but this is just too cool. The actually console itself is really practical though. They put a lot of intelligent hardware in it.

Microsoft still loses about 200 each time you buy a console, so you can at least take comfort in that. ;)
Pick up MotoGP and Rallisport btw, both are great. (If you want some racing anyway.)

I might get MotoGP, but a friend of mine has RSC so I can just borrow it from him.

I don't know that they're actually losing all that much on the consoles. I'm sure they've found some way to manufacture them uber cheap.

It was 400 per console at launch, and around August they were still losing 300. My guess is that they still haven't turned a profit on the consoles yet. I haven't seen any news articles on the subject lately though.

I payed $200 for a console with S controller and two Sega games. Then $50 for Halo (which is probably a $35 profit for Microsoft) and $35 for an AirFlo controller. The two MS controllers are $30 each ... hope the AirFlo doesn't royally SUCK ASS.

Check your PM and E-mail Tom McDonnell . ;)

MotoGP is online Xbox Live. 16 players and vioce chat and all that. Justincase you didnt know.

New tracks and riders in the Online Upgrade. ;)

Oh my god that controller is GARBAGE! Wow, what a pile of crap. Oh but you gotta love that system design....cough, cough. Anyways, give some credit to Bungie, the designers of Halo, not some douchebag company that bought them out to have ONE decent exclusive launch game...

I just picked one of the limited edition boxes up, myself. Sega GT is a very fun game, though I'll reserve a complete opinion on it until I've put some more hours on the game. JSRF is fun, too. The real reason I bought it is games like House of the Dead III and MechAssault, both of which are exactly what I've been looking for.

I haven't seen Halo for $20 bucks anywhere.
It is still $50 new...

Heck, even the used ones are still $40, when you can find them.
I did get Halo and that game is a freaking blast.
Also got Project Gotham, good game.
Borrowed MotoGP. Love it. X2
Had Halo and NBA Inside Drive 2003 given to me.
Halo of course kicks a$$ and Inside Drive is
actually pretty damn good. Not quite NBA 2k3 (rented for ps2), but better than Live 2003.

I just looked on EBworld.com and Halo is still going for $50. I'm not surprised either, as it is a guaranteed sale when an Xbox leaves the shelf, much as GTA3 was for the PS2.

Yeah, I think it was a short time promotion for the XBox at Best Buy. A sales dude said it ran in a weekend paper and the sale lasted for about two days. Oh well.

Halo is great...especially with co-op mode! :)

The Xbox was $299 at launch, by the way. 'Course, I got mine for free, so I'm not allowed to complain about the controllers (which I actually like). :)

You know, AltF8, I usually support your posts ... but what the heck does getting the XBox for free have to do with liking the controllers?

They're 'okay'. I prefer the dual shocks, but I'm not complaining. :)

Frankly, I think I'm really really tired today. :|

I was thinking the same thing when I read his post.

It's been a long week so far. The wife's pregnancy is affecting her much more this time around, and is not feeling well at all 98% of the time. :(

Ah yes, as do I. Have you tried out the new "S" controller for the XBox? It's a huge improvement over the original. Still not quite up to the Dual Shock 2 standards, but it's pretty nice.

Honestly guys,
I have had my XBLox [:D] since Monday night and have been playing Halo, MotoGP, PGR and FIFA 2003 along with some
Splinter Cell demo thrown in. I can say that I like the xBox controller just fine. It almost seems like a more comfortable
Dreamcast controller and I love the analog triggers.

I'm not saying that I like the xBox controller better than a DS,
but I like it just as well. And I have yet to get the ever popular
Controller S.

I'm will say for racing games I truly dig the analog triggers.
Sony really needs to address this issue as I think triggers work
better than the hokey "analog buttons".

Just my opinion... :)

The controller Debate is funny, I just can't seem to find any company that will do a controller right, but I still maintain that the PS2 has the best of the bunch over all.
The GC: Too few buttons, Fairly well designed, though not every button is placed in a useful manner. It's also too small for large hands.
Xbox: Normal controller has a perfect size for adult hands, but has horrible button placement (diagonal diamond?) and several of the buttons aren't that useful for twitch reflex games (fighting games etc) Thos would be the B&W buttons, and the analog triggers. (The Triggers are great for driving though.)
The S-Controller improves the button layout of the main 4, but makes the B&W buttons useless, as well as the select button. It's also getting a little on the small side.
PS2: Small, but open design makes it useable to all hand sizes. Perfect button layout, dual analog with more buttons than any other making it great for action games. The lack of Analog triggers hurts driving Sims, but I forgive that because I use a wheel.
There is a company called Ascii in Japan that makes perfect controllers though (especially for fighting fans) The can be imported on sites like www.tronixweb.com

Interesting that this has become a controller discussion. It does make me feel good to know that the comfort of controllers is as important to others as it is to me.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

XBox Live anyone? I've run a few races of MotoGP. Who said this game was crap? It seems pretty good to me, and I have the demo. Maybe if I had spent $50 on it I would feel differently. MechAssault looks pretty dadgum cool, and Halo 2 should be more than awesome.

I can't believe I'm saying this ... I enjoy my XBox.

AAAHHHH I'M MELTING!!!!!
