I First Got Into The GT Series With GT2; Did You?

Right, my 2 cents.

Well it musta been 2001 or 2002, I cant remember which birthday it was, either my 10th or 11th birthday, but my dad's old friend got me Driver 2 as a present, not knowing that I alreayd had it. So he took it back, and wound up finding GT2 about 2 months later. Since then Ive neverl ooked back...I still remember my first ever car, a delapidated, dark blue 1992 Honda Prelude VTEC 👍 In those early days I was an overkiller though. Ive always been slightly behind with the new consoles - when the PS1 was all the rage back in like 1998-99, I had a Sega Mega Drive :D and then got a PS1, then didnt get a PS2 until like 2003-4 ish? And im still waiting on the PS3, although to be honest Imma blag steal and borrow to get it once GT5 comes out :D

But i tihnk Parnelli has a good point. They all have a different feel. I played GT1 a little and its a bit more hardcore. GT2 is just a fantastic game, still my favourite, and thanks to this forum I still play it daily, not to complete the game itself, but I just do it for fun, simply because the cars you get just arent available anywhere else, sometimes not even in other GTs. GT3 is a great game for a quick bite, plus its the easiest in the seires to drift on - i remember me and my fellow GT-er friend Sam doing D1 style drifting round Midfield in a pair of Astons - good times :sly: also GT3 appeals to me when I just want mad horsepower, because a lot of cars on there can be tuned to over 1000hp, and my Viper currently has like 1100hp or something?
GT4 is great for realism, and the whole A-spec points thing is a big plus.

Well I got GT 1 and a new PSX back in 1999 when I was 19.
I heard the game was quite good coming from, Tech TV. I skipped the arcade disc and started with the simulation disc, man alive it was rockin my house all night long....
2000 I got GT 2 and I was very stunned and it actually had my favorite car the Beetle!
Unfortuanentley my dead pyschotic rottweiler ate my GT collection as well my PSX.

I got my hands on a PS2 last month along with GT 2 and GT3 and I am having a blast with GT3 as some of you may know from my posts in the GT 3 forum.

I was young and started with GT2 too.
I found it the best racing at the time and loved it with all the cars.

At the momment I have GT2 on PSP to pla anytime :D

I started with GT2 :D At that point I'd had a PSX for maybe a few months, and the first few games I had were the original Colin McRae Rally and TOCA2, both of which I loved. Bought GT2 the day it came out because I'd played GT1 on my brother's friend's PSX and also played the Rome demo that came with a PSX magazine.

My first car in the game was a dark green Honda CRX SiR which I immediately started winning races in... until it all went wrong. In my naivety, I fitted "standard" tyres, or whatever the "realistic" ones were, because they were cheap and I thought they'd do pretty much the same as racing ones. How wrong I was... I was losing races like crazy in my understeering CRX. I didn't realise it was the tyres that were doing it until after I'd sold it to fund a bright red Celica GT4 to which I fitted white speedline wheels! My winning ways returned...

Really enjoyed the game though, and I've been a GT fan ever since. The only games I've never actually owned in the series are GT1 and GT4 Concept, though I've played both (and rented the latter, which I completed with all golds within the 2 day rental period!).

:scared: I tried to use simulation tires exactly once...in the Trail Mountain enduro on a 240Z. Never again. I occasionally do use N2 or N3 tires in GT4, tho...to kill off some advantage (or just for fun, or to "simulate" a car in its natural state from the dealership).

Nice. You must be good, dood.

My brother had a PS1 and GT1 and that was my first time I had ever played GT. But later on the PS1 went away and I got my own and that's when I got GT2, and also the first time I actually got into the series.

I got GT1 as a belated christmas present when i was seven, and i've been playing ever since! I love, own and play all the Gran Turismo games to this day, and i couldn't be happier!

I wanted a game that you could see that car brake lights.....lmao. Seriously, I did, So I started with GT2 and a Prelude, and then beat it, got a whole crap load of Camaros, went to GT4, and now I cant find a memory card.

I started with Gt2 when we rented it from our local video store back when it came out, I ended up keeping it for two months, never did pay the late fees ;) At first we didn't realize we could buy used cars so the only car we could find for our 10,000 was the Fiat 500r, needless to say it took a while to start winning races. Personally I felt GT3 was a bit of a let down after playing GT2 but GT4 restored most of my faith in the series.

I didn't. I think that I got Gran Turismo 1 before GT2 even came out. I had one of those PS1 Memory Cards that had multiple states. I couldn't save GT1 and GT2 data on the same memory card then. My GT adventures began with GT1.
