I golded all Track Experiences!

This is completely normal and (as long as the steering wheel is OK with the current firmware) will soon and then they can be faster. You have to be much more sensitive and anticipatory with the steering wheel.

It takes days, weeks, months until you are at your personal optimal level. Your muscles in your arms and feet/legs have to get used to it first.
Yeah, steering wheel itself is fine. I got a G29 for a good deal. But to be honest, i don't have the greatest setup at this moment. My steering wheel is attached to my desk, so I'm not playing in a PlaySeat or something like that, just a 'normal' chair. I'm not comfortable with my back/neck at all, even though i have a great chair. Pedals are also standing on the ground and they are not attached to it. So when I have to brake hard, the pedals shift. So I still have to figure that out as well.
You will achieve it and using a wheel is certainly easier than with a controller - you just to get used to it.

I got my first steering wheel on ps3 and played hundreds of hours, not only gt but other games as well. There’s a turning point when you think you are not improving at all, but, suddenly everything falls in place and you will find easier what you thought impossible.

I am absolutely certain that sim racing improved my real life driving skills as well. One particular time it saved me when driving in snow that I just corrected it’s way by reflex.
Appreciate the messages and motivation, thanks both.

I can understand that very well, because I felt the same way, but step by step I changed it as the joy of driving with a steering wheel increased and I realized that I was limited by my setup.

I started with the (for me) most important thing, I created a connection between my chair and my pedals. I built a "Podium2" for my pedals, with which they were screwed. As a result, the pedals were also significantly higher and were in a more comfortable position to ride. At the same time, I designed the pedestal in such a way that it was connected to the wheels of my chair From that moment on, I was able to brake or accelerate as hard as I wanted without the pedals shifting and the distance to the seat always remained the same.
In the 2nd step I built a construction with aluminum profiles (groove 8) to accommodate a good used car seat and an even better assembly and alignment of the pedals.

As a next step in a few days, I'll build a construction for the steering wheel, which will then be screwed directly to the base to also eliminate the relatively small flex of my table top.

I started with a g25 which I regret I sold - however I didn’t have any space to store it. I bought it along with a wheel stand pro (google it) which was also upgradeable to accommodate my fanatec CSL. You definitely need one, fairly cheap too. I am playing on my 65 tv sitting at my couch.

I’d love to have a dedicated space, so now, every time I play I have to set the wheel up, play, and then pack behind the couch in my living room. Plus I hear some whining from wife :)

I finally golded all tracks today, after many days of frustration. I left a semi-easy track for last, so it would be a breeze. Well, I just wanted to brag a bit, because, man, was it tough! There were a few tracks that I played a million times! I have also golded all licenses (fairly easy except a couple of ones PLUS all the drift ones) and all the missions - except the endurance ones that I am going to start sometime soon.

I started with the Nurbrurgring track experience, which was not THAT tough - I started with that because I had seen another thread that not many people are going to gold it, so I went for it - golded it the same day after just a few attempts, probably because I've played it so many times.

Toughest ones for me were the following - in descending order of difficulty for me:
  • Catalunya Track: omg, that Lambo was really tough to handle, I played this track more than any other to gold it. And since I considered it an easy track this was really unexpected. Definitely I golded it out of pure luck, and I hated it in the process.
  • Laguna Seca: oh my god, golded the individual sectors with ease, so after reading another thread that it was someone Nemesis, I thought to myself, what is it all about?... until I played something like 200 times the whole track. One of the times I only lost for like .003 of a second. Imagine that!
  • Tokyo Expressway - both directions with the BMW: This was a nightmare - my ghost wasn't helping me either because I did a really quick start so I was mostly disappointed by my ghost until I reached that twisty S that you need to pass with 5th.. both directions were hell.
  • Lake Maggiore with the 4C: I must have played it at least 100 times till I golded it. That S and the last turn were really tough to crack!

Other than that, I've had a few issues with the dirt tracks; on the other hand, tracks I would consider tough that I golded fairly easy were Spa, Monza. St.Croix, I took after an hour of attempts, although I was not expecting to gold it that easily.

So, how about you guys? What do you think? Any track that you are having difficulty to master?
Congrats mate :)
What do you think about the Windmills, LeMans and Nordschleife? :)

Lemans was also tough, that last section was really tough, one of the few times I had to consult the help video on how to get it right. I would not expect you can take most of those turns full gas and 6th gear!

Nordschleife was what I meant by Nurburgring - didn’t find it so tough, but then again it’s my favorite track and ran it so many times so I knew all the tricks to go with as much speed as possible. The latest turn is my worst, have to time it properly.

Windmills and all the other dirt tracks. They weren’t that tough for me but require precision. That long dirt track (don’t recall name) was the toughest for me.

Congrats on achieving something that I consider very challenging and yet both skill-set and financially rewarding. Much better use pf your life than grinding a Tomohawk around Tokyo!

I have only done my favourite tracks so far. I found Interlagos quite easy, Spa not too bad but Brands, a track I thought I knew, much more of a challenge. It really taught me that I had not been nailing the track as well ad I thought.

Personally I’ll never try Catalunya. I hate that mickey mouse track, no flow, silly corners, and if you have to do it in a Lambo that is literally my idea of hell!

Well I never grind, and thankfully they somewhat fixed this. I have spent most of the money, I have like 15m now, but in the meantime I bought almost a whole legendary car set. When I grind I do it with cars I love, aka slow ones :)

Yes! Brand hatch was a lot tougher than I expected myself! Love the track also… used to hate it but started loving it from ACC.

Catalunya on the other hand, I don’t really agree with you since I kinda like it, but you are absolutely correct, driving that lambo there is really hell! Those last couple of corners were awful, I certainly got that by pure luck.

Kudos to all that Golded all the tracks. I recently started with the Nordschleife, my fave track by far. Done thousands of laps since GT5 and know it quite well. I just can't gold the first sector.. and another but can't recall the number. I'm only 7 or so sectors in so far, but that first sector I'm 6 10th's off gold, and only just manage silver about 2 in 10 attempts. I must have spent at least 6 hours spread over a few sessions trying. That BMW doesn't like me

I really prefer a light nimble car for ring adventures, usually a bit slower too, unless its a group 4 rally car. But! I must gold this challenge, so I will persist.

As @scooterlord mentioned, I think i need to expand my setup with a wheel stand to even enjoy myself driving. I already gave up on driving with the setup i had before. I got many issues with my back and neck so not enjoying gaming at all. And the reason we all game is to enjoy ourselves... I'm not that handy to even build a stand myself so my second option is to buy one. I'm curious about your setup, mind sharing that one? If not, i can understand.

i looked it up on Google and found two stands that got my attention. Which one do you recommend?

First option or the second option?

Deep Forest gave me trouble as well because of the twitchy R8 and all those connected corners in the mid section.

It's easier and cheaper than you think.

You can use a simple framework made of aluminum profiles Nut8 for your space, e.g. Build 40x40mm, in German shops you can order these profiles made to measure, it will certainly be possible with you too.. In addition, enough angle connectors that are simply screwed on.. and that's it..

Personally, I don't think much of these stands since you're still separated from the seat, but everyone's opinion will be different.

The R8 is extremely sensitive... brake carefully and, in principle, always keep the accelerator pedal a little bit... it's better to reduce the speed a little earlier, brake less hard so that it stays calm, then with e.g. Roll through the curve at 80 km/h and carefully accelerate again behind it. Than braking brutally into the curve and then having a restless car even at 70 km/h.

Thank you! That looked so smooth and clean. 🙌

I noticed you using more throttle in places than I was, so that's a good starting point for me. Good to see it done with TC-0. That really helps see the throttle limits possible.

I have the second one, which I upgraded for my shifter/handbrake. It’s awesome and recommend it. You should try their own website though for more options.

This is easy to explain because if you add up the gold sector times (38s, 23.3s, 36.7s) you'll get a time of 1:38. Now for the full lap, the bronze time is 1:37. Silver is 1:30 and Gold is 1:28.600... so you'll need to shave up a whole lot more time than you already did in the sectors alone.

I am learning to play well with a wheel (and manual) and I’m just satisfied with the bronze. But I also feel like I am doing so well that I can’t believe I’m not even hitting silver…

The sectors overlap, so you can't really compare the sector times against the full lap time.
