Yay my dad was feeling generous so he decided to buy me the official PS2 mag and it has a TOCA world touring cars/V8 Supercars demo. It says its an 80% complete demo although the game is out in 2 weeks over here.
The menu is kinda wierd it starts of with you "Ryan McKane" (he has an american accent grrrr why couldnt he be english )sitting with his feet up on the desk. Basically its like the menus off driver, but you check your computer for new offers and stuff. Anyway you recive an E-mail on the computer and it takes you a cut scene in the Pit lane in Monza, there you are asked (by some jakie stewart lookalike) to do a lap of monza in a Proton (yes a "proton" ) in under 5 mins, I managed to do the lap in like 2mins 30secs so I think it wont be that easy in the real game. The in car view is very nice with all the gubbins you get inside the car, you can also look left and right in your car but it makes driving difficult. After this you are treated to another cut scene where you meet your manager (a tony soprano lookalike) after this the demo then dumps you into a 2 lap BTTC race at brands hatch. Its odd though when you drive in the in car view the graphics starts to look like toca 2 on the psx but if you use any other camera angle the graphics turn back to normal. m hoping that this doesnt happen in the finished game because the in car view is one of the factors that sets it appart from the GT series. Anyway the race puts you inside the 2001 Lexus IS200. On my first go I managed to come 13th out of 14 cars with my cars front bumper missing, on my next go I managed to win with the rear and front bumpers missing, oh and the front window completely smahed (neeed a little practice). I then restarted the demo and out of boredom I selected Australian at the language select and I was greeted with the new title screen "V8 Supercars" now instead of having a BTTC race it gave me a V8 supercars race at adelade circuit and I was in a Ford Falcon (I think??). This race was more interesting because I had no idea of the track layout (unlike brands hatch) I went into barriers, other cars, sand traps.........everything. Even the computer drivers crashed of their own accord and I (being a dumbass) didnt notice them so I slamed into them at about 80mph sending a car into the air landing on its roof very fun stuff .
Lets just say this demo is going to be played ALLOT!
