Yay my dad was feeling generous so he decided to buy me the official PS2 mag and it has a TOCA world touring cars/V8 Supercars demo. It says its an 80% complete demo although the game is out in 2 weeks over here.
The menu is kinda wierd it starts of with you "Ryan McKane" (he has an american accent grrrr why couldnt he be english  )sitting with his feet up on the desk. Basically its like the menus off driver, but you check your computer for new offers and stuff. Anyway you recive an E-mail on the computer and it takes you a cut scene in the Pit lane in Monza, there you are asked (by some jakie stewart lookalike) to do a lap of monza in a Proton (yes a "proton" :grumpy: ) in under 5 mins, I managed to do the lap in like 2mins 30secs so I think it wont be that easy in the real game. The in car view is very nice with all the gubbins you get inside the car, you can also look left and right in your car but it makes driving difficult. After this you are treated to another cut scene where you meet your manager (a tony soprano lookalike) after this the demo then dumps you into a 2 lap BTTC race at brands hatch. Its odd though when you drive in the in car view the graphics starts to look like toca 2 on the psx but if you use any other camera angle the graphics turn back to normal. m hoping that this doesnt happen in the finished game because the in car view is one of the factors that sets it appart from the GT series. Anyway the race puts you inside the 2001 Lexus IS200. On my first go I managed to come 13th out of 14 cars with my cars front bumper missing, on my next go I managed to win with the rear and front bumpers missing, oh and the front window completely smahed :D (neeed a little practice). I then restarted the demo and out of boredom I selected Australian at the language select and I was greeted with the new title screen "V8 Supercars" now instead of having a BTTC race it gave me a V8 supercars race at adelade circuit and I was in a Ford Falcon (I think??). This race was more interesting because I had no idea of the track layout (unlike brands hatch) I went into barriers, other cars, sand traps.........everything. Even the computer drivers crashed of their own accord and I (being a dumbass) didnt notice them so I slamed into them at about 80mph sending a car into the air landing on its roof very fun stuff :D .

Lets just say this demo is going to be played ALLOT!

Well, it's 18 days until it comes out (well, here it is anyway) so I doubt the demo will get THAT much of a work out.

I'm glad they kept the look right and right thing from TOCA 2, problem is I don't use the in-car angle and in TOCA 2 that ability wasn't available from the 'on the bonnet' angle I prefer.

That feature's available in Grand Prix Legends on the PC and I have started to use it - there's no rear view other than the (admittedly very good) mirrors, so when a car disappears from your mirrors it's the only way to check where they are.

Once you have braking under control it's fairly easy to sneak a quick glance - I have it set up on the Logitech wheel with the buttons on the face of the wheel - hopefully you can set it up that way on TOCA - we shall see!!

Oh yeah I just remembered that they had a little red arrow to tell you where the nearest car is. LOL I completely forgot about my rear view mirror as well. Hmmmm methinks ill watch the Colin Mcrae 3 video on the demodisc now.
Oh yeah I tried the game in spanish as well but it didnt let me race at a spanish track all I got was dodgy sounding voice acting.

Hmm maybe you could invent a controller that you put on your head so when you move your head to the left you look left in the game. Now that would be off putting

Have you tried the toca demo in australian yet?
I thoght hot pursuit was ok, mind you it goes all matrix like when you do a sick crash or a huge jump. Arrrg agressive inline is just like dave mirra bmx on skates, I want to see if I can rip the GTConcept video off the demo and upload it somewhere so everyone can see its awesomeness.

So do you think V8 Supercars is good??? I'm prolly going to rent it but I saw a review and it looks cool. Y2Tuscan, do you know when TOCA is coming out in Australia???

I know where you can upload it... ;) You know the gallery I set up for your screenshots? It handles video files, too - just login and upload the file as any other picture and it will appear as a movie icon in the gallery, ready to download! :)

I see now all I need to do is either find a prog that can convert the video into a PC readable format, or record it from my friends TV card. :)

No sorry I cant help you there, all I can say is that its coming out on friday over here, so it shouldnt be that much longer to wait for you guys.

TOCA's release date in the UK is dependent on platforms. The PS2 version comes out in 5 days. The PC version comes out in 2 months. And the Xbox version arrives on Christmas Day :embarrassed:

I'm guessing differing dates for platforms will be true for CMR3.

And btw, Tuscan, it's worth uploading that GT:C vid. If I had the right tech, I'd do it, but sadly I don't.

And Dave Mirra on skates? Remember its made by the same company and has nearly the same engine.

Your the one that said it, I just wanna play TOCA. Apparently you want to do other things, It doesnt matter anyway we can ALL PLAY! :) remember its 4 player as well sick sick sick arrrrrr sick. Unles theyve taken that feature out of the game

I got the demo, and managed 2 minutes 5 seconds in the Proton, and first place in the Brands Hatch race (though not on my first attempt!). I didn't realise what happened if you selected Australian as the language, so I'm off to try that now. My game is waiting for me to collect at the post sorting office, they tried delivering today but it didn't fit through the letter box :( . Nevermind, I'll pick it tommorow morning!

Hey, I've got a question for you guys with the demo - are the cars as "twitchy" as they appear in some of the videos? From the looks of them, the steering appears to be digital (either turned all the way in one direction or dead straight). Were they just using the D-Pad on the controller when recording the videos, or is that just how the gameplay is?

y2tuscan has the game now and I will be getting it today as for the demo the cars handle superbly if you played the old toca touring car games the handling is just an improvement on the old series (p.s. y2tuscan drives dirty)
