I am suprised my PS3 controller is not dead yet.

I am quite harsh on it and you can hear the plastic creak heavily.

I don't have a car to drive.. That's why I always order on online

I chatted on Amazon, They said Nope, but one time exception under condition.
Code:
Hello,
Here's a copy of the chat transcript you requested:

Initial Question: Can Amazon accept the damaged condition?

10:23 AM PDT Katie(Amazon): Hello, my name is Katie. I'll be happy to help you today.
I'm so sorry that your controller is damaged - did it arrived damaged when you received it?
10:24 AM PDT Joshua : No.
10:25 AM PDT Katie(Amazon): Okay, we will accept the return of items that arrived to you in damaged condition, but if it became damaged after you received it, we're not able to issue a refund or replacement for that. What exactly is wrong with it?
10:27 AM PDT Joshua : left joystick on case chipped.
10:29 AM PDT Katie(Amazon): Okay, if it didn't arrive in that condition, we can't accept a return for a full refund, but as an exception, I will offer you a $5 promotional credit, which will just automatically discount your next Amazon sold item that you order. Would that be okay?
10:31 AM PDT Joshua : Can i send proof picture of damaged?
10:33 AM PDT Katie(Amazon): I'm not able to receive pictures, but if the item arrived in that condition, we can accept a return for a refund. If the item became damaged after you received it though, we cannot offer a refund for that, as items must be returned to us in the same condition as they were received.
10:34 AM PDT Joshua : OK.
10:34 AM PDT Katie(Amazon): So was it already chipped when you received it, or did it become chipped after it had been opened?
10:38 AM PDT Joshua : I opened it and always take care my new controller 3 weeks then it happen.
10:40 AM PDT Katie(Amazon): Okay, so if you cause damage to an item, we will not typically accept a return of the item. As a one time exception though, I will help you return it to us for a full refund. The return window is almost over though, so it needs to be dropped off with UPS by this Tuesday in order to get that full refund. Here is your prepaid return label:
10:41 AM PDT Katie(Amazon): I do want to stress that this is a one time exception, and in the future, if an item becomes damaged after you receive it, we will not be able to accept a return at all.
10:44 AM PDT Katie(Amazon): Is there anything else I can do for you today?
10:45 AM PDT Katie(Amazon): Sorry, I don't mean to rush you but we've been idle for 3 minutes, and I want to make sure our chat's still connected. If you aren't able to respond in 2 minutes, we may be disconnected.
10:46 AM PDT Joshua : densidad that, I dont want sead it back
10:47 AM PDT Katie(Amazon): If you want to receive a full refund of an item, you must return it to us. If you prefer not to return it, I can still offer you that $5 promotional credit instead, to discount your next order.
10:48 AM PDT Joshua : no thank.. i keep my controller
10:48 AM PDT Katie(Amazon): Okay, I'll go ahead and issue you that $5 credit then, so that you can receive a discount on your next order. Is there anything else I can do for you today?
10:48 AM PDT Joshua : ok
10:49 AM PDT Joshua : Bye thank you
10:49 AM PDT Katie(Amazon): You're welcome! Thanks for allowing me to assist you. I hope you have a great day!

Why did you reject an RMA? What am i missing?

In the 20 years I've been playing games not once have I broken a controller, lol.. I do agree about Sony controllers that aren't the standard black feeling cheap though.

It's taken about 5 full force throws- not drops, i mean it's spiked like a football -in fits of rage to break the shell of my black controller. And it still works. You just might cut yourself, meanwhile my blue one has an issue where if you hit one button too hard, you trigger the [] X O R1 and /\ to all go off which really sucks in battlefield or in GTA V.

Because I have only one DS3(red) right now, so I rejected RMA...

I thinking I go ahead ordering new replacement shell for DS3. What's good website for replacement shell?

That's because the flexible PCB that has the button pressure sensors on it (see this image) is held on to the main board with nothing more than a piece of sponge and the force of the case holding it all together. Over time that sponge gets less, er, spongey, the screws work themselves slightly loose and the plastic loses some rigidity (especially if you tend to throw, twist or squeeze the controller when, um, irritated) so the flexible PCB has room to move across the contacts with the main board and so you get phantom button presses from time to time. One of my old controllers used to do what yours does if you didn't hold it with exactly the right amount of pressure applied to the right parts of the controller... I fixed it by opening it up and putting a couple of layers of cardboard under the sponge. It can also help to get a silicone skin as they put pressure across the whole controller.

Older controllers had zero insertion force connectors holding the flexible PCB in place (see this image, if you're interested, and compare it to the one I linked before), but later revisions removed them as a cost-saving and possibly also ease of assembly measure.

@JoshB1984 it might be easier to get a silicone skin like this one. I used one after managing to lose all the screws from one controller I had once, it worked right up until I tried to trim a piece of rogue silicone that was interfering with my clip-on triggers... Naturally the silicone split a tiny, tiny amount, then one day it just exploded off the controller, more or less.

I have a bad feeling about silicone for one reason. I will passing on silicone, thanks for suggest..

I've got 3 official Sony DS3's; the black one that came with the (used) system the first time when I bought it, a white one that I got on sale from GameStop, and a pink one that my sister bought (for the Spyro series of PS1 games)

The black one's worn all to heck; years of abuse from the previous owner(s)? shows up quite well, as the buttons are wearing thin, and the tension in the sticks was all but gone until I took it apart and cleaned it.

White one's the one I use the most; no problems with it, despite the numerous accidental drops onto the hardwood floor. Sticks are fine, buttons are good - and, oddly enough, the plastic it's made out of is very grippy. It doesn't slip at all when my hands sweat, unlike the worn black DS3 and the pink one.

Pink one's nothing special; only thing of note is that it can be slippy, if your hands get sweaty while playing (mine do, which is why I picked up the white one after a friend showed me.)

Those controllers, though, don't get near the workload as my 2 remaining GCN controllers do. I've rebuilt both of them (silver and orange) at least 3 times, which is kinda natural for things that are 10+ years old. I used to use silicon covers for the orange one (since that's the apparent rare color for official GCN's) but they didn't work too well. Same with the Wii stuff - those covers that came with the Wiimotes aren't sturdy at all, especially the middle ones, and they're hard to clean as well.

I've never heard of a site that does replacement shells; my only experience with replacement shells is when I cannibalized two broken GCN's to fix my brother's remaining ones. (We actually have had about 10 of them; when he was younger, he'd get mad and break them... so we ended up losing 6 of them to that.) I honestly haven't tried using a replacement shell for a DS3 yet, because I haven't had to.

You might be better off buying a new one down the road if this one doesn't work out for you.

Last night, I am tried to swapping my red DS3 to my old black DS3, but it won't fitting. I only noticed inside my black DS3 different compare new red DS3 is clipping to hold the rumble motors. I tried to trimming the white plastic where the rumble motors hold from red controller to fitting in old black controller, but still not fitting... *sigh* I assembled red controller back together again then I forgot to put PS guide button back in red controller. :boggled: But I don't care and hated that button very much. :D

I bought a red controller as a back up too, I haven't had the same issue as you but I will agree that the controller does feel different to the original black ones. First indication of that in mine was that I could see the red light from the controller number through the controller shell. Despite that I used it as my main controller for about a year and it's still in good working order. My friend has a blue one and it feels a lot more durable than my red one.

In saying, mine does have a different backing sticker to yours, but that could be because of a difference in region.

Yep, that's what title says. Yay! I bought red PS3 DS3 month ago from Amazon. I always take care my new controller, then this afternoon I accidentally snapped a left joystick insideout ring while I playing GT6. It never happening before to my 7 years old black DS3. My red DS3 buttons feels weird and weaker.

Is it just me or new DS3 feels cheap than before?
Thanks for the heads up and sorry for your misery.
I checked to get a new DS3 and whilst the original black one was still ridiculously expensive for a 6 year old piece of hardware, the red one was cheaper (and also official). Now i know why; they used a cheaper plastic...
