I have never completed any GT games, simply because I have never really been bothered to. But since people call GT2 the instant classic, and I think it is a really good game to play, I thought I would like to have a go at it now. I was wondering if anyone could give me advice on what car to buy first, what order to do the events in, and what cars to use for certain events aswell. Cheers,
Wow...this game is ancient! Just Joking,i really do like this game a lot and i would really love to play this again. If you really want to start, first get the license first (do until I-B or I-A should be fine) then maybe look at the Japanese used car lots. There is plenty of cars you could get for cheap there.
I did choose a Mitsubishi Mirage Asti 97' and kinda tuned it till the 197hp limit. The car has a good handling and speed and can enter most of the event in GT2. Keep doing the Japanese event at Midfield raceway and you can earn lots of cash.
Another option is to either buy a Nissan Silvia or a Toyota (forgot which one...) and maybe a Kei car if you want (Daihatsu and Suzuki are good for this) I don't know a lot about Honda's and Subaru's so you have to ask another person about it.
Well thats all the advice i could give you for now, hope now you know where to go and have a good time playing a classic! 👍
Hi Skid Mark 33! I've done this for as long as I can remember, this is probabaly the fastest and the easiest way to start in GT2 :
Do all liscense test (you dont have to get all golds, waste of time, you can always go back later)
Go to the Toyota dealer and check the used car lot. Look after the Toyota Supra TwinTurbo. The price should be near 10,000 credits (easier to spot the car).
Now you should enter the 80's Sports Car Cup, Tahiti race.
You should now have the Skyline Silhouette Formula (R30) in your garage.
Want fast money?
Now when you have the Skyline Silhouette you should enter Gran Turismo All Stars, Red Rock Valley race.
If you win (which you probabaly will do) you'll have the TVR Speed 12 in your garage.
Sell it and re-do the race. 550.000 credits in about 5 minutes.
It's just my advice. If you want to get started fast, I suggest you to it this way.
GT2 is rather like GT4, there's so many paths you can take. I myself did several games of GT2 (like, 10 different games) all on different memory cards. I would have different themes for each game--one was a ricer/boy-racer garage. Another I had all yuppy cars & mommy wagons. Another one was mostly American steel & muscle . Another one was this another that....I started games in everything from the Honda Life to the Mazda RX7 Infini III.
You don't necessarily need to get all the licenses right away either, as there are some races in which you don't need one.
but to start, you can do some research.. See if you can find one of those "first car" threads in this forum 💡 One of the coolest things about GT2 (from a gamer's perspective) is most of the races are sprints; in effect they only take a few minutes to complete. It seems odd now when you consider the mountains of time spent in some of those later races in GT3 and 4 just how easy & quick GT2 is to get into.
