Thanks a million blindside and others. I will post another video of my progress (probably won't be until Saturday because I'm busy tonight). It sounds like I'm too eager to throttle out of turns in general and even though it feels faster, you're saying it isn't because I'm just scrubbing whatever speed I may have gained by getting into the throttle early. I've been watching replays of others but watching and doing are entirely different. I have a hard time wrapping my head around slow-is-fast...because when I go slow, my time is always slow. I feel like I'm working too hard...and your comments pretty much are in line with that.

Slow is slow, unless you are going slower to achieve a faster line. Taking the same line but slowing down won't help anything. Braking earlier to turn in more effectively and hit a fast and late apex is entirely different - and in fact may be faster throughout the entire turn.

Good luck to you. I really think you can do this if you do nothing but cut excess distance off your turns by apexing super late.

Well thanks again for your tips and watching my video. I forgot to save my fastest lap time but I shaved 7/10ths of Cape Ring. I achieved most of this by carrying more speed through turns 10-11 after the long right-hander as well as perfecting my entry and exit to the ring (turn 20). I also hit turn 3 correctly most of the time once I figured out how to enter turn 2 and carry the appropriate speed to keep the tires cool. I could not get the hang of turn 6 and was very inconsistent with that kink...which probably accounts for a good 2 seconds in sector 1.

I scraped off a little time on the other tracks for a total of 5:19.041. That put me at #191 in the Northeast but almost 2 seconds behind the cut-off. I put a lot of hours in to get that time and each night I would grab a 1/10th or two. I couldn't for the life of me find the big score that would take a big chunk off my time.

Tsukuba 1:06.399 - I can run a 1:06.5-1:07 all day long with smooth entries and exits. To get lower I think I needed to get the rear end to kick out and slightly drift around corners. I wasn't very good/consistent with doing this and it just resulted in spinouts and frustration.

Rome 1:23.277 - Consistency with the kink was partly my issue but I had trouble with turn 1 and 9 here and there as well. I spent the least amount of time on this track so I'm not that frustrated with my time. If I had focused on this track for a few more 2 hour sessions I could have dropped into the low 1:22s.

Cape 2:49.365 - I improved the most on this track and also spent the most time. I think my first time was a 3:08 and Now I can run 2:52s after 1 or 2 laps but to get under 2:50 I have to drive to my limits which results in slower times more often than not.

Overall I've learned quite a bit and although each of these times are my best effort, I think I could get pretty close to them again if I were just given an hour or two. They are by no means kamakazi runs where I got lucky. I tend to be a smooth driver so I don't have the hang of quick jerks of the wheel or tapping on the brakes just to get the front to turn. Any sectors that require this make me frustrated. It just seems odd that the car won't coast and turn in at a moderate speed but the car will turn in at a higher speed with the tap of the brakes in just the right spot. Missing the apex by inches or using too much brake causes the tires to boil and the car goes careening into a barrier.

Ok, done with my rant. Enjoy round 2 everyone!
