This is how i do it:
First you need the rocket launcher(20+rounds) grenades(lots) and any other ammo you want.
Now remeber where that alley way was where you had to kill the 35 or so triads is? go to the rook of that building, via stairs in that alley(the building is in the area of the bball court.). once on the building get as close to the edge of the building as you can with out falling off.
Now just go on a rampage. use the grenades to kill/destroy things, and the rockets to shoot down the copters.
When the army arrives, the tanks will stop below you and then the guards will get out and try to shoot you. drop the grenades down and that should kill them(drop lots). then when you think the coast is clear, try and peek over the edge, if you see any part of the guards, kill them.
Finally just hop down and grab the tank that is just sitting there, ripe for the plunking.(there will prolly be more than one.)

another good place is on top of the tunnel (which leads to the observatory) in shoreside. From there you can just drive straight to your garage and shove it in, then die or whatever, and come back for it.

I dont remeber any pipe bombs, all i know of is molotov cocktails and grenades.
Sorry but i sont know where any of the grenades are located, i always just went to my hideout and got them

i've been mucking about with the tank, and i found that tank cheat + better car handling cheat + fast play cheat works like a treat.

Agreed! Isn't this thread about getting a tank? Would certainly like one myself! any other good ways to get it?
...finally got the FBI-car today BTW... I tricked it down to the hideout in staunton, and when the FBI-dudes jumped out, I jumped into the elevator and saved! when I returned to th game, the FBI guys disappeared, and the car was mine for the taking! 😈 wondering of this will do for the tank too?
