If you had a team and could choose any two drivers who would they be? And why?

My dream team would be Senna and Moss, because Moss would let Senna dictate the team politics and always finish in second making me lots of $$. ;) And Senna would finish in 1st, also making me lots of $$$.

So who are your two??

I would like to see Maserati design a chassis, Ferrari engine...

Jenson Button and Ayrton Senna.

Sorry f1king. This was actually an interesting thread, and so rather than just wade in with some inane comment, I figured I'd give it some thought. I am now ready.

I would like to see Juan-Manuel Fangio and Alain Prost, in a 1994 Williams.

I would like to see them race at the old 'Ring, Suzuka, Spa, Interlagos, Melbourne (preferably March next year!!) and Silverstone.

I'd like to sit in on the team debriefs, and watch the interaction between the drivers of the two ages. I'd like to see Patrick Head, Adrian Newey, and Alain explaining the intricacies of telemetry to Juan-Manuel. And I'd like to see Fangio's car control and sense of honour come to the fore. I think it would be a really interesting relationship, between two simply stunning drivers, in a simply stunning team on the top of its form.

the dream team already existed; Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost in the 1988 McLaren-Honda. they didn't get along quite well, but they still managed to win 15 out of 16.

but i'd really like to see Jim Clark and Michael Schumacher in the 1967 Lotus-Cosworth, just to show how much the electronics have diluted the racing talent.

Well you definitely picked two very different drivers, but they would make a great combo. Fangio in a car that Senna was supposed to dominate F1 god help the drivers that raced against your team. I guess from an owners point of view you realy put some thought into it.

I like your idea of Clark and MS although I cant stand MS. This would be a team to reckon with. I dont know if anyone would ever want to repeat a Senna Prost team ever again, although they did win 15/16 I just see someone getting punched.

Well after reading your replys I have a new team. I would have Fangio, and Clark in the Williams FW14B that Mansell won his title in. Two guys who would respect each other, but keep it very competitive on the track without taking one another out.

I'm still thinking - this is a good question.

I'm leaning to Senna and Clark in the '88 McLaren Honda, with Chris Amon as test driver (heh - had to throw in a curve ball!).

Gee, but there's the Williams Renault 14B, the ground effects Lotus 78/79, and drivers like Fangio, Prost and so on.

My team would have Senna, and Mansell in this bad boy that mario drove to his championship.

Heh - that's why I included it in my 'maybe' list.

I saw that car run at the quarter mile Geelong Speed Trials in the hands of Johnny Herbert, in the week leading up to the 1994 Australian GP. Fantastic looking GP car, but the amazing thing is the scraping noise of the skirts rubbing on the road, real 'nails on a blackboard' kind of noise - first time I was ever grateful for the noise of the ol' Cosworth DFV!

I would have:

Drivers: Juan Manuel Fangio / Stirling Moss
Two dreat drivers that always kept the car and the road, and raced for the sake of loving racing.

Team management: Lord Hesketh
Apparently those guys partied 8 days a week, no sponsorship necessary.

Public Relations: Keke Rosberg
This guy could tell it lke it is. No Ron Dennis-speak.

Paint: Mid-1970's Shadow.
Black with an American flag.

Chassis:
Jordan 191

Engine:
Ferrari flat-12

And no team orders or fixed finishes.

Well I'd have :bmw: Montoya, and :mclaren::mercedes: Kimi Raikkonen, working with the whole :ferrari: Team (excluding drivers), Ross Brawn (without the knackered back), John Todd etc..

Then I'd make :jaguar:'s Irvine as the test driver..

Sign a contract with Bridgestone or kick Michelin up the 🤬 to sort themsleves out..

That'd be nice :D

no one making a team with schumacher then?

Well, as you know. I am a new F1 fan. It is hard to get into F1 in a place where maybe 1 in 50 people have a vague interest in it (That is no over-exxaggeration).

being that I have only seen bits and peices of 2001, and almost all of 2002 seasons I only know about current drivers.

2 drivers that are very promising are Kimmi Raikonnen and Takuma Sato. I would like to have these two drivers in a Mclaren Mercedes.

These are just 2 drivers that I like.

I got into F1 about 15 years ago, and I was hooked. I wanted to find books in the library about F1, to know more, but all they had were 10-20 year old books in their shelves.

But even the old black-and-white pics, the stories from drivers of long ago, driving more dangerous machinery, on less-safe, but more daunting tracks, made the sport even more interesting to a teenager like myself (whom had no license at the time).

F1 isn't the most popular sport in the Americas, but you'd be surprised at the conversations you could have with a complete stranger who's wearing a t-shirt or hat with anything F1 on it.

12sec civic, i agree about sato. I would love to see hhf and sato on the same team. Both like the technical aspect of f1. Trying to develop a car. hhf has good experience also.
