I had a bit of a think while reading the various posts, replies, and squibbles. As i was thinking here is what went through my mind while I was deciding.
One car for the rest of your life. What makes that difficult is the residing factors of:
1. Reliability
2. Matinance
3. Usage
4. Residual value ( if something went wrong and need large amounts of money )
5. Style
6. Wow factor
The Cobra, Mclearen F1, Viper, Skyline(s) are all fantastic cars, except three things. Very high matinance costs, they decline in value as time wears on, or are specific in their usage.
The truck is not a car. Neither is a sport utility.
My choice would be the Rolls Royce Silver Ghost.
They made very few, can't remember the number. The last one sold at auction for well over $2 million USD and are increasing in value every day.
About the only place you wouldn't take it is off road. I don't own anything to trailer so not worried there. There is always something special about a Rolls. It is not the fastest, hottest looking car but, name a chick who would say no to a ride in one?

This vehicle has exactly zero cubic feet of cargo room. Have you ever carried something with you in an auto? Because those days are OVER with the Cobra.
f50: You are stupid, and you are an idiot. Before this is deleted, let me back this up with some facts. Maybe you're a Cobra fan until your death. Personally, I'm a BMW M car fan until my death (and, as I told MistaX, I have been since 1988 or so, though I've not yet owned one). I have no problem with you being a Cobra fan. However, it's clear that you haven't even come close to thinking through your arguments. First, Carroll Shelby is not dead. Seems a 'fan' would know this.
Second, Cobras have zero cargo space. This is not a made up statement, it is the truth. You, of course, came back with "Maybe for you but not for me." Apparently you have some sort of special Cobra that none of us know of.
You've also obviously never grasped the concept of owning a super car. A super car, like the Cobra, has high running costs. You look at base sticker price, but this isn't even scratching the surface. Maintenance costs run high for all supercars (except for the NSX). I'm sure MazKid would even concede that the RX-7 (III gen) has high running costs.

When I said "Because those days are OVER with the Cobra," I was referring to the days of carrying cargo (as is clear with my post). Since the Cobra has no cargo space, those days are over. Then you said "Maybe for you but not for me." How are those days not over for you? Do you have a special Cobra with cargo room?
By the way - I love how you choose to answer only some of my questions, and not the inquiry into your age.
